However, since then they have grown from strength to strength and are on a terrific winning spree. In their last match against Kent, they posted 221-3 after beating first and won the game by 54 runs. Captain James Vince top-scored again with a brilliant 100 off 54 balls. Vince now has 369 at a strike rate of 134.67 this season. Ben McDermott (251 runs at 151.20) is the other consistent batter for the team. Joe Weatherley (178 runs at 141.26) has done a good job in the middle order while Tom Prest finally got some runs under his belt with a 52 in the previous game.

On the bowling front, Hampshire has largely dependent on seamer Chris Wood (12 wickets at an economy of 7.47) and left-arm spinner Liam Dawson (10 wickets at 7.03) to deliver the goods. James Fuller (10 wickets at 7.80) has also done a very good job.

Will Surrey be able to continue their outstanding winning run in this match too? They seem like an unbeatable side at the moment and have simply blown every opponent out of their way. Surrey’s batting is just too strong and someone always steps up in one game or the other. The departure of in-form opener Jason Roy and all-rounder Sam Curran will hurt them, but they have still got enough strength in their tank. Ollie Pope’s return to the middle order will certainly bolster the batting unit and Sunil Narine showed how useful he can be with the bat in the last game with his unbeaten knock of 51 off 29 balls.

Narine has also been amazing with the ball for Surrey this year and has an economy of just 5.42 runs. Captain Chris Jordan (12 wickets at 7.62) continues to be better and better at the death and together with Narine, he forms a deadly combo that every opposition will struggle against.
