Ahead of Saturday's match, there are only two points covering Perth Scorchers in third place and Adelaide Strikers in seventh, so although it is Hobart Hurricanes who come into this game with a better position in the table by three places, the roles could easily be reversed swiftly!
Hobart Hurricanes have home advantage in this game at the Bellerive Oval, although since the start of 2025, they are the only team who has won a game on home turf with the other three won by the visitors and one ending as a no-result.
The no-result saw table toppers Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat not even get to the toss in Coffs Harbour but that has seen the table close up even more as the Sixers have now not won any of their last two.
All in all, the table is getting tighter and a couple of back to back wins will see any teams jump up the league!

Hobart Hurricanes got 2025 off to a fantastic start as they became the first team in this BBL campaign to beat Sydney Sixers when they got the better of them by 50 runs in a day-nighter in Hobart.
Indian born Australian all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary was the star performer and rightfully picked up the Player of the Match Award after hitting 42 runs from 31 balls and then returning figures of 1/15 from his three overs.
Billy Stanlake also stood out with the ball (2/22) and he will be relishing the opportunity to bowl again at the Bellerive Oval.
Batting wise, the top six of keeper-batter Matthew Wade, Mitchell Owen, Shai Hope, captain Ben McDermott, Chadhary and Tim David, is certainly capable of taking on any bowling attack.

December was a dark month for Adelaide Strikers as although they beat Melbourne Stars by 15 runs in their season opener, they then went on to lose by three wickets to Brisbane Heat, 11 runs to Hobart Hurricanes and by seven wickets to Perth Scorchers. However, they sprang into action in their first game of 2025 with a five wicket victory over Melbourne Renegades at the Docklands Stadium.
The question is, can the Strikers now make it two in a row and return home from Hobart with another two points on their tally.
Crucial to turning their season around was the pace bowling of Henry Thornton (3/22) and the continued hostility from Jamie Overton (2/30). Throw in Lloyd Pope (2/34) and Brendan Doggett (1/17) and suddenly the Strikers have a well varied attack in the tournament.
Finally, Chris Lynn hit 88 runs in the last game and he with D'Arcy Short at the top of the order could well take the game away from the Hurricanes during the powerplay.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions in Hobart throughout Sunday evening and the temperature is unlikely to get above 21 degrees. There will also be plenty of humidity throughout with those levels never dropping below 50%.

Average TurnThe Bellerive Oval is one which always offers something for the pace bowlers off the pitch and through the air which often then allows the spinners to step up and tempt batters to take more chances against them! As a result, bowlers tend to have the upper hand and we predict a par score in the first innings of no more than 170.
The pitch at Hobart has been a balanced one with assistance to both batters and bowlers. The average total match score in both the games played at Hobart this season have seen lower scores. Typically as we seen in the past seasons as the season progresses the pitches become conducive to batting and we predict a high scoring game in today's fixture.
Matches 19, 20 and 22 were all won by the team fielding first so we predict that both captains will go out for the toss wanting to bowl first ahead of this game at the Bellerive Oval.
Winning three games in a row will mean that confidence will be high within the Hobart Hurricanes' camp but the fact that they brushed aside the previously undefeated Sydney Sixers by 50 runs means that plenty will now be taking them seriously. Another victory over Adelaide Strikers would confirm themselves as genuine contenders and we expect them to do it.
