Bet NowIt is the 49th game of the Women’s Big Bash League 2021 and the Hobart Hurricanes Women would be up against Melbourne Renegades Women. The Hurricanes Women come into this game with all their hopes dashed after the loss against Adelaide Strikers Women. The Renegades won a close contest against Sydney Thunder Women and have reached the top of the points table.
There hasn’t been much for the Hobart Hurricanes Women to write about in this season, and they have managed only three victories in 12 games. Their record against Melbourne Renegades Women isn’t encouraging either. It remains to be seen if the Hurricanes can cause a major upset in this game by defeating the Renegades.
It has been a forgettable season for Rachel Priest’s side. With three wins in 12 games, the side is out of contention for playoffs. They come here with another massive loss against the Adelaide Strikers Women where they went down by 48 runs. As they come towards the end of the campaign, Priest would look for a consolation win here in this game.
Rachel Priest and Naomi Stalenberg haven’t been in the best of form and the side would like a good start from them in this game. Mignon du Preez, Richa Ghosh, and Nicola Carey have to set up partnerships in the middle order which we haven’t seen from the side for most of the season. They would also like to see runs from Molly Strano and Sasha Moloney in this game.
The side would like to see a good new-ball spell from Tayla Vlaeminck and Belinda Vakarewa as Renegades have good hitters of the ball at the top. Carey, Amy Smith, and Molly Strano haven’t shown consistency so far in the tournament and they would have to fire all cylinders for the side to win this game.

Sophie Molineux has been in top form and the side comes here with another win. They defeated the Sydney Thunder Women by 4 runs in the last game in a close game and moved up to the top of the points table. Molineux would look for a win here to build momentum ahead of the playoffs.
Jemimah Rodrigues and Evelyn Jones form a strong opening pair for the side, and they would be expected to deliver a strong start in this game. Harmanpreet Kaur would be confident after her good show in the last game and look to do well in the middle order alongside Jess Duffin and Carly Leeson. The side would also like to see Josephine Dooley and Ella Hayward score runs down the order.
Their bowling attack has gone for runs in this tournament and this is the area the side would have to work out in this contest. Ella Hayward and Sophie Molineux must pick early wickets which they failed to do in the last game. Kaur and Rhiann O Donnell would need to bowl tight spells in this game. The side would also need a good show from Holly Ferling and Ellie Falconer.

The skies over Mackay would be partly cloudy on November 19 which might give bowlers some respite from the heavy pounding they have taken so far. The wicket is flat, and batters have scored runs easily on this surface so far. The side batting first would aim to put 160 runs on the board to win here.
Harrup Park, Mackay is a small ground, and this has allowed the batters to play their strokes easily. The ball comes onto the bat nicely here. Fast bowlers have done well here as there is assistance for them with the new ball. Spinners on the other hand have struggled to do well given the dimensions of the ground.
The wicket has played well so far, and we have seen sides chase down big scores in the games that have been played. Setting a target here batting first has been a challenge for the teams. Hence, we expect to see the side winning the toss having no hesitation in opting to bowl first in the game.
Hobart Hurricanes Women have struggled through the tournament with their inconsistency. Most of their key players haven’t contributed and they would have to improve in every area to win here. Melbourne Renegades Women in contrast has been the best team of the tournament and they have momentum on their side. With better strengths in both departments of the game, they would be favorites to win here.
