Hyderabad have slipped to the fifth position in the Group B table after losing their second match in a row in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023. They will now clash against Maharashtra at the Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground in Jaipur this Friday. Maharashtra are in fourth place currently and are coming off a confidence-boosting win.
Hyderabad started their season with a bang, winning two games on the trot. However, things haven’t gone their way since then, as they have lost two matches in a row. In their last game, they were defeated by Services by 6 wickets at the Dr. Soni Stadium in Jaipur, where Hyderabad could only manage 210 after being asked to bat first.
Tanmay Agarwal has been the most successful batter for Hyderabad this year, scoring 210 runs in 4 matches at an average of 52.50.
Rahul Buddhi, who scored a fine 80 off 87 balls in the previous match against Services, has shown he can be a useful batter lower down the order.
Also, keep an eye out for Rohit Rayudu (495 runs in the last 10 matches at an average of 55).
Among the bowlers, Ravi Teja (6 wickets in 4 innings) and Rakshan Readdi (5 wickets in 4 innings) have stood out.

Maharashtra has had a decent season so far, with wins against Services and Meghalaya and defeats against Jharkhand and Vidarbha. They trumped Meghalaya in their previous game, chasing a target of 228 with almost 10 overs to spare.
Om Bhosale has been the standout performer for them, scoring 227 runs in 4 innings at an average of 55.25. Ankit Bawne (211 runs in 4 innings at 70.33) has played a crucial role as well.
In their last game, Siddharth Mhatre, playing his first match of the season, top-scored with a splendid 87 off just 74 balls.
Maharashtra’s bowling attack has done a really good job as well, with almost everyone among the wickets. New ball bowler Pradeep Dadhe and leg-spinner PrashantSolanki have been the most impressive, taking 5 wickets each so far.

This isn’t a batting paradise, and there’s some help for the seam bowlers in the morning. Seamers will be able to move the ball around a bit and spinners will get some help too. However, it does get easier to bat on in the afternoon.
The weather in Jaipur will be mostly hazy throughout the day.
This isn’t a high-scoring venue, and the highest total posted here this season is 301-7 by Services against Chhattisgarh. Since then, there hasn’t been a 200-plus total posted here in three matches.
Three of the four matches played at the Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground this season have been won by the chasing side. The team winning the toss is likely to bowl first.
Both Hyderabad and Maharashtra are in a similar situation in the table. On paper, though, Hyderabad does appear to be the more balanced side. Maharashtra will have the confidence of their previous win, but their batting side looks thin. We reckon Hyderabad should prevail in this contest.
Back Hyderabad as the winners of this match.
