After making a strong start and winning their first game M Mohammed’s side has suffered back-to-back losses. They went down by Nellai Royal Kings by 6 wickets in the previous game due to a poor show by their batsmen. They are up against a side that has struggled, and Mohammed shall look to take advantage of it and win their second game of the season in this game.  

S Aravind and S Siddharth went out cheaply in the last game and this has been a problem for the team. They will have to set up a big opening wicket stand in this game. Subramanian Anand, Francis Rokins, and Maan Bafna have to do well in the middle order. They would also expect to see runs from the bats of Tushar Raheja and Mohammed down the order.  

They would need better spells with the ball from K Gowtham Thamarai Kannan and M Mohammed with the new ball. The pair would like to trouble the Spartans who haven’t done well at the top. Aswin Crist and Mohan Prasath would aim to keep the scoring under check in the middle overs. The side would also expect tight lines from Alliraj Karuppusamy.

Salem Spartans Preview

It’s been three losses in a row for Murugan Ashwin’s side. The side is struggling with the form of its batsmen as they went down against the Madurai Panthers by 39 runs. The side sits at the bottom of the points table, and they will have to win this game by a big margin to improve their position on the points table and remain in the hunt for a berth in the next round.   

Gopinath and S Abishiek have failed to convert their starts, and this is the area the side would have to work on. The middle-order hasn’t been able to build partnerships and they would need runs from R Kavin, S Ganesh, and Daryl Ferrario. Jafar Jamal and Pranav Kumar have to make contributions down the order as the top and the middle order aren’t in their best form.  

The bowling attack has to take additional responsibility as the side’s batsmen are in poor form. G Periyaswamy and M Ganesh Moorthi will have to get them the early breakthroughs. Ashwin hasn’t been able to make use of his experience and the side would need better spells from him. Pranav Kumar, Ferrario, and G Kishoor have to bowl better lines for the side in this game.

Bowlers would have very little on this track as batsmen would be able to play their strokes freely. The side that bats first would have to aim at a score of 180 runs or more on this wicket.

SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore is a small ground, and it has been a paradise for batsmen who can play their strokes and score quick runs. Fast bowlers have always found this track challenging to bowl on. On the other hand, it has been a happy hunting ground for the spinners as the ball stops on the batsmen and turns sharply.

Defending scores on this small ground is always a big challenge for any side. The wicket has been great for chasing scores as we have seen batsmen doing well with a victory target in mind. The two captains would have this at the back of their minds at the toss and one winning shall have no hesitation in opting to bowl first.
