India will begin the ODI series with a Win
Our prediction is that India will begin the ODI series with a win at Hyderabad.
Tournament: Australia tour of India 2019 | Format: ODI | Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad | Toss: To Bat
Bet NowThe T20 leg of the Australia tour of India is done with Australia winning both the matches. The focus shifts to the 5-match ODI series now. The ODI series starts with first ODI at Hyderabad on 3rd March and ends with the 5 th ODI on 13 th March 2019.
Although Australia won the T20 leg of the tournament, ODIs are going to be a different ball game. Partly because of the valley of difference between recent performances these two teams and also because India are bringing back their prime bowlers back for the ODIs which they missed in tight situations in recent T20Is against Australia.
This is the last ODI series that India play before the World Cup 2019. After a couple of away series wins, they would want to have the confidence of home series win behind their back before they leave for the world cup. The loss in the T20 series might have them go all guns blazing in the ODI series.
India just lost a T20Is series at home after a long time. The last it happened was way back in October 2015. Some might argue that they did not play their best T20 bowlers but that is not an excuse when you play at home in familiar conditions. While the first loss was the low scoring last over thriller that India should have won, the second one was all due one man, Glenn Maxwell.
Some decent hammering by KL Rahul, MD Dhoni, and Virat Kohli helped India get to an about par score of 190 in the second T20 international. However, the bowlers defending on a small ground against a Maxwell in dewy conditions could not nail their plans. India have brought back Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who have been regulars for the ODIs for a while now. Dinesh Karthik has been dropped while Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav are back to the squad.
Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, Jarprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar, Mohammed Shami/Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav.

Australia just inflicted a 0-2 series loss on India on their home soil. It's a great feat considering India do not lose much at home. Not the series at least. Confident Australia will look to build on that in the ODI series. Despite chasing a much larger score in the second T20 international Australia did it with ease thanks to the exploits of Glenn Maxwell who scored a scintillating century to see his team home. 113 of just 55 balls is what he ended up with in the end.
This was his third century in T20Is and the second one in the successful chase. More importantly, though, this is a timely knock that might just seal a place for Maxwell in the Australian squad for the world cup 2019. Darcy Short who played handy cameos in the T20Is will not be part of the ODI series. Usman Khawaja and Nathon Lyon are likely to be part of the playing XI in the first
Aaron Finch (capt), Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Jhye Richardson, Usman Khwaja, Jason Behrendorff/Nathan Coulter-Nile, Nathan Lyon, Peter Handscomb, Ashton Turner.
AJ Turner, Aaron Finch, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Usman Khawaja, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa
Not many matches have been played at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Hyderabad. The pitch is considered to a flat one which slows down a little bit as the match progresses.
The team winning the toss should look to Bat first here to set a mammoth target, and then, should look to bring the spinners into play on a slowing wicket.
The experimentation time is over for India as they look to be in the winning momentum in the ODIs before the World Cup. India have brought back all the first-choice players for the ODI series and would like to give them enough game time. Australia would like to change their abysmal record in the ODIs the last two years to gain confidence before the world cup. The T20 series win might just help their cause. However, India have been phenomenal in ODIs in recent times who have recently won the bilateral ODI series in Australia and New Zealand.
Our prediction is that India will begin the ODI series with a win the first ODI!
