India will be eager to make a comeback in a crucial game where they cannot afford a loss. Both Bangladesh and India have the same points from 3 matches each. 

A win here for either team will strengthen their chances of making it to the semi-finals. India’s batting has been quite inconsistent and they’ve been sloppy in the field too. Bangladesh, on the other hand, haven’t had any noteworthy batting performances except for Shanto’s 70 off 55 balls in the last match.

None of the experienced players in the Bangladesh lineup is in good form. Moreover, there isn't anyone reliable, especially when facing a bowling attack like India’s.

India also have their own struggles like KL Rahul failing consistently and Pandya not delivering with the bat as expected. But the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli give India strength and hope for a better performance.

India Preview

India will be taking on Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval in the second match of the day at the same venue. Rohit Sharma will be eager to score runs at the top for he has enjoyed playing against Bangladesh over the years.

The opposition may seem weak at the moment given their lack of match-winners, but their bowlers can make things difficult for India. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma will be keen on putting up an impressive first-wicket stand after failing on three consecutive occasions.  

Virat Kohli was out soon in the last match against South Africa and the result was India ended up with a below-par total. That was in spite of Surya’s innings.

India may be on their way to a growing dependency on a few select players just like Pakistan. However, fortunately for India, these are the middle-order batsmen and not the openers.

In any case over-reliance on a few players isn’t a positive sign going ahead in this tournament. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh are India’s most impact players at this point. 

The two will create chances for India even if the team has a low total on the board. Kumar finds swing early on and troubles the batters while Arshdeep has consistently found success in the powerplay.

Dinesh Karthik suffered a back injury during the South Africa game and will most likely be replaced by Rishabh Pant. That will be a huge game-changing move for India going ahead in this tournament.

Pant has a good record in Australia and he enjoys taking on the bowlers on these grounds. A number 5 position would suit the wicket-keeper batsman just well and he will get India back on top.

Bangladesh Preview

Shakib Al Hasan doesn’t have the same impact he did back in 2019 when he was the match-winner for Bangladesh in the World Cup. The most reliable all-rounder for the team at one point has now become a liability and still continues to be the captain of the side.

His bowling economy in the last three innings has been 8.50, 11.00, and 8.00 respectively. He picked a total of 3 wickets from 3 matches which weren’t quite impactful in the context of the match. His batting returns also remain unimpressive in this T20 World Cup.

As such, Shanto, Soumya Sarkar, and Liton Das will be the key batters responsible for leading Bangladesh to competitive totals. The bad news for Bangladesh is that even Das and Sarkar have been out of touch and failed to deliver in the top order.

Shanto and Shakib struck a 54-run partnership in the last match against Zimbabwe. And this should have given the two some confidence and belief in a possible comeback. There are many batting options in the lineup with Afif Hossein, Mosaddek Hossein, and Nurul Hasan in the lower order. 

But none of these is dependable and can be expected to deliver a good finish against a quality bowling attack. As such, the true match-winners for Bangladesh will be their bowlers. Watch out for Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Mustafizur Rahman to make the biggest impact with the ball.
