India is all set to make a big impact on this World Cup after a winning start against arch-rivals Pakistan. Rohit Sharma will be hoping for some batting gains at the top in this match. India were 4 for 31 chasing 160 at the MCG with both openers and Suryakumar Yadav back in the hut.

The Netherlands also have some talented new-ball bowlers in the squad. This will be a great opportunity for the Indian top order to stage a comeback after the recent collapse. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma will be out to find their rhythm before India goes to Sydney to face the Proteas.

This will not be an easy outing for India given how good the Dutch bowlers have been in recent matches. Logan van Beek, van Meekeren, and Bas de Leede will lead the bowling attack for the Netherlands.

However, when it comes to facing the Indian bowling attack, the Netherlands will be facing their biggest challenge of the T20 World Cup.

India Preview

Virat Kohli is back to his best-ever form. He has been consistent against Pakistan in T20 World Cups. However, the kind of innings he played in a run chase where India needed 28 of the last 8 balls was characteristic of Virat Kohli from 2018 when the former India skipper was in his best-ever form.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul need to find their touch at the top of the order. Both seemed to struggle against the Pakistan quicks. There is no dearth of quick bowling options in the Netherlands setup.

And it will be a great opportunity for all the top-order batters to fine-tune their techniques and approach. Rishabh Pant may get back in the playing XI for this match.

He has been a key batsman for India in recent years and has won many matches for the team. His style of play leaves the opposition uncertain as to what fielding and bowling strategy to stick to for the left-handed batsman.

Dinesh Karthik is sent way down the order and has only a few balls left for himself. In the bowling department, Shami has shown just why he’s so significant to India’s winning chances. He is the go-to bowler when the captain is looking for a breakthrough.

Arshdeep Singh is the next rising star in the Indian bowling ranks to watch out for. Whereas, Bhuvneshwar, just like Kohli, seems to have found his rhythm and will be key in the powerplay overs.

India Predicted Playing XI:

Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh

Netherlands Preview

The Netherlands got off to a great start after winning the toss and opting to bowl first against Bangladesh. They reduced the opposition to 76-5 in 11 overs and were on top of the game. Even if Bangladesh managed to finish with 144 runs, it wasn’t a big total to chase for the Netherlands.

Colin Ackerman finished as the top run scorer with 62 off 48 finding no partner to build partnerships with as wickets fell regularly from the other end. Max ODowd, Bas de Leede, and Tom Cooper are other key players in the top and middle order who are expected to step up and deliver.

The Netherlands need to make a few changes and get back some of their best talents for this match. They’ve got Roelof van der Merwe and Timm van der Gugten in the squad. These two bowling all-rounders can replace Shariz Ahmed and Tim Pringle.

The captain Scott Edwards isn’t in good form himself and van der Merwe will be a great addition to the batting lineup.

There is a great number of all-rounders in the Netherlands squad including Fred Klaassen, a batting all-rounder who came in at number 10 in the last game. Edwards needs all of his batters and all-rounders to contribute to the innings as they will be up against a strong bowling attack.

Netherlands Predicted Playing XI:

Max ODowd, Vikramjit Singh, Bas de Leede, Colin Ackermann, Tom Cooper, Scott Edwards (c & wk), Timm van der Gugten, Logan van Beek, Roelof van der Merwe, Fred Klaassen, Paul van Meekeren

Weather Conditions

The pitch at the Sydney Cricket Ground offers good bounce and carry and is usually a batting-friendly track. The last match played here saw New Zealand amass 200 runs for 3 wickets batting first. Scattered showers are expected on the match day with a high of 24 degrees Celsius.

Venue Details

Sydney Cricket Ground is one of the most iconic venues in Australia which has witnessed many high-scoring encounters. The average 1st innings score at this venue from 11 T20Is is 171 whereas in BBL it is 158. A total of 19 times teams have scored over 170 runs at this venue in domestic T20s.

Toss: To Bowl

Going by the stats, there isn’t any clear advantage to teams batting first or second at this venue. Teams batting first have won 6 of the 11 T20Is and 22 of the 49 BBL matches at this venue. However, knowing India’s preferences it is safe to assume that India are likely to bowl first if they win the toss.

India are on a song with some phenomenal wins in their recent T20Is including the last encounter against Pakistan. King Kohli is very likely to put the Netherlands under pressure when he comes to the crease. Suryakumar Yadav will also take many of the Dutch bowlers to the cleaners. Overall, barring a few positives, the Netherlands haven’t got a strong chance of gaining the upper hand in this contest. India will start as big favourites in our match prediction.

Our prediction is for India to win the match
