India has been one of the strongest teams in Test matches at all conditions and they are almost unbeatable at home. They have a lot of new faces in the squad but will be hard to beat in these conditions. New Zealand have been not so great visiting teams off late and their success has been mostly in the home conditions. They will look to win this match and set the tone for the WTC 2021-23 cycle.

India Preview

Indian team will have a new opening pair in form of Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill in this series. Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in this series and Cheteshwar Pujara will be his deputy in this match till Virat Kohli returns for the second match. Shreyas Iyer or Surya Kumar Yadav is expected to make their test debut in this match.

India`s dynamic spin duo of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will join forces in this match and they will have the  company of Axar Patel as third spinner in the playing XI. Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma will be first choice pacers in the Playing XI with Mohammed Siraj as an out of the box option for this match.

India`s batting looks slightly inexperienced with only Cheteshwar Pujatra and Ajinkya Rahane avaialble from their last test. Their spinners look fresh and rejuvenated and are expected to give tough time to the opposition in the middle.

Green Park is one of the slow and low pitches in India and it will aid the batters for the first 2-3 days of the match.  Spinners will come into play as the match progresses. We expect scores in the range of 300-400 runs in the first innings and anything over 200 runs will be tough to chase in the fourth innings.
