The former India captain, Virat Kohli led India’s comeback against Pakistan after the early batting collapse. Since then, India have been on a song with some fantastic performances from all of their key players.

After a memorable finish from Kohli against Pakistan, Suryakumar Yadav showed just why he is the most valuable asset in India’s T20 middle order.  With everyone coming to the party including Rohit Sharma and the bowlers, India now seems to be all set for the South Africa challenge at Perth.

India got the better of Proteas in the home series just before the start of the T20 World Cup. However, South Africa can never be counted out given the immense T20 talent present in this squad.

Rossouw is back in the side and is in phenomenal form. His hundred against Bangladesh in the last match was his second this month. The left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten hundred against India at Indore in the 3rd T20I earlier this month.

India Preview

India seemed to be staring at yet another World Cup exit when they were 4 wickets down for just 31 runs against Pakistan. A loss in the opening game has a huge impact on the team’s performance in the later matches.

Kohli did what he does best. Finish games. That innings inspired everyone and had a big impact on other batsmen in the lineup. Except for KL Rahul, the rest of the top order came good in India's second match.

Rohit Sharma scored a fifty at the top and so did Suryakumar Yadav at number 4, but at a much faster rate. With Virat Kohli playing the anchor’s role at number 3, this India lineup looks well-balanced and promises another high-intensity batting performance.

Dinesh Karthik continued to be part of the XI even and Pant was overlooked even against the Netherlands. The team management seems to be backing the veteran wicket-keeper batsman to be a finisher lower down the order.

We don’t see Karthik’s selection to be very effective given how little he gets to play when he arrives at the crease.

India are likely to continue with two spinners in the side. The pace department led by a back-in-form Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the rising star Arshdeep Singh looks as promising as ever. Bhuvneshwar will be lethal in the powerplay while Shami can break any growing partnership in the middle overs.

India Predicted Playing XI:

KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh

South Africa Preview

The Proteas have looked in solid touch in recent games. Though they were outplayed on their India tour in T20Is and ODIs, they seem to have bounced back really well in Australia.

The pitches here are suitable for the South African style of cricket. Whether it is their pace bowling or the attacking batting, bounce and carry always mean good news for South Africa.

Rilee Rossouw is the key player to watch out for in this lineup. Quinton de Kock also has great experience playing against Indian bowlers in the IPL and will be expected to lead the batting effort.

While there is Markram in the middle order, the Proteas seem to give the young Tristan Stubbs more opportunity to express himself. Stubbs was sent ahead of Markram against Bangladesh at number 4.

David Miller at number 5 or 6 is South Africa’s true match-finisher. He has been in great touch this year and with his performances in IPL for Gujarat Titans, the southpaw batters showed just why he’s such a reliable batsman.

The spinners will play a key role for South Africa with the ball. Rabada and Nortje can be lethal with the new ball and give KL Rahul a tough time. However, as the match progresses, Indian middle-order batsmen are likely to play their strokes freely against the best of Proteas' bowling.

And hence, it will be up to the spinners to give their team breakthroughs whenever a partnership seems to take the game away.

South Africa Predicted Playing XI:

Quinton de Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi

Weather Conditions

There is great pace and bounce on offer from the Perth pitch. The likes of Nortje, Rabada, and Shami will have a great time bowling here. The weather is expected to be cloudy with a high of 17 degrees Celsius.

Venue Details

The average 1st innings total at the Perth Stadium in BBL matches is 167 runs. The only T20Is played here started this T20 World Cup and none of them has been high-scoring so far. However, given the current form of both these teams, we expect a high-scoring affair and a thrilling finish to the game.

Toss: To Bowl

Only 3 T20Is have been played at this venue and teams batting second have won 2 of them. In the domestic T20s, teams batting first won 13 of the 21 matches. Both teams have reliable big-hitting match finishers in the lower order and will be comfortable chasing a total here.

India always start as the favourite when it comes to T20Is. However, South Africa have shown how good they can be even against the best T20 team in the world. The Proteas can be lethal with the ball and if India lose Kohli early in the innings, the men in blue will face a really tough test. India also has a strong bowling unit with in-form and consistent pacers.

And all of this promises a closely fought encounter between two of the best T20 sides in the world. India, with their current form and squad strength, will start as the favourite in our match prediction.

Our prediction is for India to win the match
