India Women and Australia Women are set to renew their rivalry in a high-stakes three-game series ahead of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025. In 56 WODIs played between these two, Australia Women have won 46. In fact, their last loss against the hosts came back in 2021. The first WODI of the three-match series will be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh on 14th September from 1:30 pm onwards.

Australia Women have announced a strong 15-member squad for the 2025 ODI World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, with Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham both returning to full fitness. The spin duo will be crucial on subcontinental pitches as Australia aims to defend the title they won in New Zealand in 2022. India suffered a setback ahead of the ODI World Cup 2025 with wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia ruled out due to a left knee injury sustained during camp in Visakhapatnam. She will also miss the three-match ODI series against Australia. Standby player Uma Chetry, 23, has been drafted in as her replacement and will now make her maiden appearance in India’s ODI setup. Harmanpreet Kaur is set to lead the Indian side. Kaur will have a huge confidence after hitting a century in the last game against England Women.

In their last outing against each other, Australia Women outclassed India Women by 83 runs at the WACA to complete a 3-0 series sweep. Annabel Sutherland was the star with a superb 110 off 95 balls, becoming the first Australian to score a women’s ODI century from No. 5 or lower, while Ashleigh Gardner contributed a vital 50 before tearing through India’s batting with a career-best 5 for 30. Tahlia McGrath’s unbeaten 56 also added weight to Australia’s total of 298 for 6. For India, Arundhati Reddy shone with a sensational 4 for 26 in her comeback game, dismantling Australia’s top order and recording the third-best ODI figures by a visiting bowler in the country. Smriti Mandhana fought valiantly with a classy 105, her ninth ODI hundred, but lacked support as India’s chase crumbled from 189 for 3 to 215 all out.
