Defending champions and tournament favorites India Legends are taking on New Zealand Legends in the 9th match of the Road Safety Series. This is the first time India Legends will be going head to head with New Zealand Legends. New Zealand will be looking forward to registering their first-ever win in the series by defeating India.

India Legends might not be on top of the points table but got off to a dream start in the first game of the series. After convincingly beating South Africa, India had their game abandoned due to rain against West Indies giving them an extra day's rest and also much more time to prepare for the test they will be facing against New Zealand. The New Zealand Legends on the other hand had a forgettable debut in this series, as they were restricted to the score of just 99, which was then chased down easily by South Africa. It was a very lackluster performance by the Kiwis but will definitely want to make a strong comeback by beating tournament favorites India.

India Legends would be raring to go as they would want to continue their momentum from the first game and hope the extra day's rest doesn’t prove to be costly. New Zealand Legends on the other hand will want to put up a stronger display than what they did in their first game.

India Legends Preview

On the accounts of just the one game played the India Legends are playing like a team who will leave no stone unturned when it comes to retaining the Road Safety Series. They looked to be in fine touch and that will be a worrying sign for the opposition. The contributions right from the batsmen to the bowlers, are good signs, and will want to keep that upright throughout the tournament.

The batting department is in breathtaking form. While batting first, they scored 217 runs in their first game against South Africa. In spite of all the top-order batsmen contributing to the cause, the star of the batting lineup was Stuart Binny who blitzed 82 off 42 balls, which consisted of 6 sixes and 5 fours. Yusuf Pathan and Suresh Raina also chipped in with handy contributions of 35 and 33 respectively.

The Bowling department also showed up as they not only restricted the Proteas but also scalped 9 wickets. Spinner Rahul Sharma was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 3 wickets for 17 runs. Munaf Patel and Pragyan Ojha also chipped in with 2 wickets each, finishing off a very good bowling performance against the Proteas.

Key Players: Stuart Binny, Rahul Sharma, Suresh Raina, Munaf Patel

India Legends Predicted Playing XI:

Sachin Tendulkar(c), Naman Ojha(w), Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Stuart Binny, Manpreet Gony, Munaf Patel, Pragyan Ojha

New Zealand Legends Preview

Things could not have started worse for the tournament debutants, as they got off to a disastrous start. Batting first, the Kiwis could not even manage to reach a collective of 100 runs, managing only to score 99 in the allocated 20 overs. The kiwis would want to bounce back from that performance and make a comeback against the India Legends.

The batting department folded like a pack of cards. The only positive from the New Zealand innings was Dean Brownlie who scored 48 off 48 balls and looked to keep this batting lineup together. Barring that the only notable contribution and only other player to get into double figures was bowler Gareth Hopkins who scored 18 runs, trying to salvage some pride for the kiwis.

There was very little the bowling department could do after the abysmal performance from the batting lineup. They could manage to pick up just one wicket, as South Africa managed to chase the target in 13.3 overs.
The New Zealand legends will want to perform better and showcase a much better performance if they need to get ahead in the tournament.
And what better way than to do it against tournament favorites India Legends?

Key Players:  Dean Brownlie, Gareth Hopkins, Craig McMillan, Ross Taylor

New Zealand Legends Predicted Playing XI:

Jamie How, Anton Devcich, Dean Brownlie, Ross Taylor (c), Neil Broom, Gareth Hopkins(wk), Jason Spice, Hamish Bennett, Kyle Mills, Scott Styris, James Franklin

Weather Conditions

The weather will be pleasant, with a 41% chance of rain on match day. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be in the 29°C - 22°C range.

Venue Details

The Holkar stadium, formerly known as Maharani Usharaje Trust Cricket Ground, has staged quite a few ODIs. The wicket at the Holkar stadium usually favours the batsmen. With even bounce and short boundaries coming into play, batsmen tend to rule the roost.

Toss: To Bat

As there are chances of rainfall, the smarter option would be to bowl first and chase down the total if the D/L method comes into play. However, being batting-friendly wicket, the teams might also want to take advantage of the fresh pitch. It is recommended to bat first here after winning the toss.

The India Legends arguably possess the strongest side on paper and are not touted as tournament favorites for anything. With match winners galore, it seems very difficult for any side to beat them. Saying that New Zealand holds the edge over India in recent international tournaments and would psychologically give them a lot of confidence, which they would like to translate on the pitch.

We predict that India Legends will defeat New Zealand Legends.
