India Women will host Australia Women in the 4th T20I of the 5-match series at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, on 17th December from 7 pm onwards. Australia have taken a 2-1 lead in the series.

After a minor setback, the world champions bounced back with 21 runs over India Women. Batting first, Australia registered 172 runs on the board. Ellyse Perry scored 75 runs off 47 balls, followed by a quickfire of 41 off 18 balls from Grace Harris. Renuka Singh, Anjali Sravani, Deepti Sharma, and Devika Vaidya took two wickets each from the Indian side.

Aussie Women then restricted India to 151 for the loss of 7 wickets. India were looking for another upset, with Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur displaying some superb shots in the middle. But India lost wickets in the regular intervals after the 73 runs partnership between Verma and Kaur ended. Darcie Brown and Ashleigh Gardner took 2 wickets each.

The series is now tilting toward Australia. The visitors are back in the game with the 10th victory of the year in 11 games. With a strong batting lineup followed by a deadly bowling unit, India will find it difficult to save the series.

India Women Preview

Once again, it proved that the Indian batting lineup depends on the top four. And if one fails, it is difficult for others to fight. Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have 500 runs each this year. Mandhana, who scored 79 in India’s win over Australia, failed to recreate the magic. She will still be our choice for the top batter from India. She has 6 half-centuries against Australia- most by any player. Shafali Verma scored a fifty in the third game. But her pace was not enough to chase the big target. The openers have just one fifty-run stand between them in the last 10 games. It is a must in the fourth T20I if India wants to win.

Jemimah Rodrigues should play with more freedom. The prolific striker failed to Darcie Brown on 16 after hitting three boundaries. Harmanpreet Kaur loves to bat against Australia. In fact, Australia’s only loss in the last 30 ODIs was all because of her inning. Kaur averages 40 with two half-centuries in the last five T20Is against Australia. Deepti Sharma should be sent at number 5 to increase the run rate. Sharma has 63 runs in the 3 matches at a strike rate of 175.

The series hasn’t been graceful for the Indian bowling unit. Devika Vaidya and Deepti Sharma are the only bowlers with 3 wickets each. Else every other Indian bowler has failed to take wickets per game. India should look forward to playing Yastika Bhatia or Harleen Deol over Radha Yadav, who is wicketless after bowling 9 overs in the first three games.

Key Players: Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma.

India Women Predicted Playing XI:

Australia Women Preview

The Australian Batting lineup is the perfect unit a team should crave. Opener Beth Mooney has scored 201 runs in this series at an average of 201. She loves to play against India. 5 half-centuries in the last 7 T20I against India is enough to justify that statement. Her partner Alyssa Healey hasn’t scored much with the bat, but her strike rate of 157 is enough to create havoc on an odd day.

The world's number one batter Tahlia McGrath has 111 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 132.14. Her average this year is 80. Only Beth Mooney is closer (74.16) to her in terms of average. When three of the top-order batters don’t perform, Australia have Ellyse Perry to the rescue in the middle. Perry’s 75 in the third game was her first batting experience of the series. The same was true with Grace Harris, who scored 41 off 18 with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Darcie Brown will lead the bowling attack with Megan Schutt. Brown took two for 19 in her first outing of this series. On the other hand, Schutt has 13 wickets this year in 14 innings. Alana King is struggling against India. The leading wicket-taker of this year has just one wicket in three games. Heather Graham, the leading wicket-taker of this series, should be the ideal choice over Alana King.

Key Players: Beth Mooney, Ashleigh Gardener, Tahlia McGrath

Australia Women Predicted Playing XI:

Weather Conditions

The weather will be sunny. The temperature will range between 19 and 31°C. The wind will be flowing from the west at 7-9 kmh. The pitch is considered good for batting in both innings. For spinners, it offers a slow turn as the match progresses.

Venue Details

The second T20I at The Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, on 11th December from 7 pm IST. The venue holds a capacity of 20000 spectators and has hosted 18 Tests, 10 ODIs, and  9 T20I so far.

Toss: To Bowl

In the 9 T20s played, the results favored the team chasing the target 6 times. Though the average batting score of the team batting first is far better than that of the team batting second, the pitch behavior suggests the team winning the toss should bowl first.

Australia have 10 victories in 11 matches played this year. The loss in the second T20Is was their first loss of the year. And it took super over for India to beat them. When you have a batter who has 5 half-centuries in the last 7 T20Is played against India at number one, a batter whose strike rate is above 150 at number two, a world number 1 T20I batter at number three, and an all-rounder who plays every time when the top three crumble, you know the dice will favor you no matter who rolls.

We predict that Australia Women will defeat India Women.
