Ireland team had a bad start to the Tri-series with their loss o West Indies by a massive margin of 196 runs. But, they will take the confidence of the fact that this was the same team that almost defeated the strong England Line-up just a week ago. They will look to replicate or better that performance in the coming matches.

Their batting unit was bowled out for scores below 200 in last two matches. Kevin O Brian scored a fighting 68 runs in the match against West Indies. Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie and Gary Wilson are getting starts but are failing to convert the 20s & 30s into big scores of 50s & 100s. Their bowling unit took a severe beating against the rampaging Shai Hope and John Campbell the last match. Barry McCarthy took the wickets of West Indian openers breaking the massive partnership of 365 runs. All the bowlers in their team were taken for runs at an economy over 7.5 RPO.

Bangladesh team beat West Indies team comprehensively by 8 wickets to start their campaign in the Irish soil. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar scored 73 & 80 runs respectively to give a brilliant start to the match. Shakib Al Hasan then scored a run a ball 61 runs along with Mushfiqur Rahim (32*) to seal the chase in their favor.

Their batting was hugely untested with a low score on board. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza lead the bowling attack from the front with figures of 3/47 in his 10 overs. Mohammed Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with two wickets each and took wickets at regular intervals. Spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan were very economical with their spells and strangled the opposition in the middle overs.

Ireland Preview

Key Players:

Andrew Balbirnie – Balbirnie got starts in both their matches against England and West Indies but failed to put a substantial score. He was dismissed for 29 runs on both occasions and he will look to make a mark in this match with a good knock.

Joshua Little – Little troubled the England batting line-up with his bowling and had figures of 4/45. He needs to bring his A-game in their encounter against a strong Bangladesh batting line-up.

Bangladesh Preview

Key Players:

Tamim Iqbal – Tamim Iqbal played an uncharacteristic knock of 80 off 116 runs but he would happy with his partnership of 144 runs with Soumya Sarkar at the top. He is batsmen who can take the attack to the opposition early in the match.

Mohammed Saifuddin – Saifuddin had figures of 10-1-47-2 in the last match and he is an exciting young bowler who can also play a good hand with the bat in hand. He will add more depth to the playing XI with his all-round capabilities which is the need of the hour.

Recent Stats (This series)

Soumya Sarkar – 73 runs, 68 balls, 9X4s, 1X6s

Shakib Al Hasan – 61 runs, 61 balls, 3X4s, 2X6s & 10-0-33-1

Weather Conditions

Dublin pitch aids the faster bowlers and batsmen will find it difficult to score runs. The average score in this pitch will be around 250 runs. The last match, 16 wickets fell for an aggregate of fewer than 400 runs in total. The weather in Dublin is rainy now and it has 70% chances of rain on match day.

Toss: WIN the toss, BOWL First

Teams batting first have won both the matches this series but with overcast conditions and cloudy skies, both teams will look to bat second. Batting second will have advantages in the game if DL equation comes into play.

Ireland is a strong team in their home soil, but Bangladesh team has a better experience, quality and depth in their team on paper. So, we expect Bangladesh to win this contest. But we will have an exciting contest between two good sides.
