00.0Scotland Women’s challenge to beat home advantage
Ireland Women to win
Tournament: Scotland Women tour of Ireland 2021 | Format: T20 | Venue: Civil Service Cricket Club | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowIt would be resumption of T20 cricket for both the sides as Ireland Women take on the Scotland Women in the first T20 of the 4-match series at Belfast. Both the sides are coming into this contest after nearly 20 months of gap in this format of the game. The pandemic and the lack of cricket would have surely changed the equations in both the camps and this is expected to make this game interesting.
There isn’t much difference between the two sides at the moment where Ireland Women are ranked 10th in the world and Scotland Women are in the 13 place in the ICC rankings. Ireland Women have enjoyed a good record at home where they have made it difficult for their opponents. However, this game would be played after a long gap for both the sides and the camp that is match-ready is likely to walk away with a win here.
Laura Delany would be looking to start the home season on a winning note. The side would be taking the field after a long gap and Delany would hope they are able to strike form immediately. They have a strong batting line-up and shall look to exploit the home advantage and gain an early lead in the series.
Shauna Kavanagh and Leah Paul will have to provide a good start in this game. In the middle order the side has lot of experience with Laura Delany and Gaby Lewis in the side. They will need to set the right stage for the likes of Jane Maguire, Ava Canning and Jenny Sparrow to do the big hitting towards the final overs of the game.
In Lara Martiz and Celeste Raack the side has a very experienced new ball pair and they would be expecting early wickets from them in the game. Rebecca Stokell, Delany and Cara Murray will have to play good supporting act as Scotland Women are known to have good hitters of the ball.

Kathryn Bryce would be aware of the scale of challenge her side faces going into this contest. They haven’t had the best of record against Ireland Women in the past and to take the opponent in its own conditions would be difficult. She would expect her girls to put up their best show in this game.
Sarah Bryce and Lorna Jack would be expected to provide an electrifying start in the game. They are the best batters for the side. In the middle order Bryce will have to steer the innings along with Priyanaz Chatterji and Ailsa Lister. They would also expect runs from Ellen Watson and Katie McGill towards the end of the innings.
Good show would be expected with the new ball from Kathryn Bryce and Abbi Aitken-Drummond in this game. They would also look for tight lines from Katherine Fraser, Samantha Haggo and Megan McColl as there are good hitters of the ball in the Irish side.

The skies over Belfast would be overcast on May 23 and there are chances of rain during the game. Conditions would be difficult to bat on in the early overs of the game and batters would have to be choosy with their shot selection. A score of 140 runs would be a good one on this surface.
Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast is a small ground with shorter squarer boundaries. The pitch is lively here and offers lot of seam and swing to the fast bowlers. Batters have to set in to score runs on this surface. The condition of the ground doesn’t offer much of assistance to the spinners.
It has become a sort of norm to win the toss and bowl first in T20 internationals these days. Both the sides are coming into this contest after a long break and hence we expect the side winning the toss to have no hesitation in inviting the opponents to bat first in this game.
Ireland Women are playing at home and this is a big advantage for them going into this game. They have a strong batting line-up and shall look to make good use of it under challenging batting conditions. Scotland Women on the other hand have a much weaker bowling attack and this would give the Irish side advantage going into this contest.
