  • Ireland Women have good hitters of the ball in the side in Laura Delany, Gaby Lewis and Shauna Kavanagh

The first game of the series saw the balance shift regularly and the game went down to the wire with the visitors Scotland Women winning it eventually. A low scoring game it had its share of drama where none of the batters across both the teams were able to stand up to the challenge.

Ireland Women have enjoyed a good record at home in the past and they would like to overcome the grief of the last game. They have better knowledge of the conditions and shall have to use it to their advantage here. It would be interesting to see if Scotland Women are able to make it two in two or Ireland is able to bounce back.

Ireland Women Preview

Laura Delany would be extremely upset with the performance of her side in the last game where they made a mess of the small chase to lose the game by 11 runs chasing merely 88 to win the game. As the side goes into a do-or-die contest the Irish skipper would want her girls to pull up their socks and play tough cricket in this game.

Rebecca Stokel and Gaby Lewis went out cheaply in the last game and better show would be needed from them at the start. In the middle order their batting collapsed and this is where Delany, Shauna Kavanagh and Orla Prendergast have to do well. Leah Paul and Lara Maritz have to play important hand down the order in this game.

Their bowlers had a great outing in the last game with Ava Canning and Orla Prendergast bowling tight spells with the new ball. Same would be expected from them here. Lara Maritz, Celeste Raack and Delany also come here after an impressive show and they would be high on confidence.

Ireland Women Predicted Playing XI:

Laura Delany (c), Ava Canning, Amy Hunter, Shauna Kavanagh (wk), Gaby Lewis, Lara Maritz, Cara Murray, Leah Paul, Orla Prendergast, Celeste Raack, Rebecca Stokell

Scotland Women Preview

Kathryn Bryce would be happy to have pulled off an impossible win in the last game. But there are many concerns that the side would need to address in this game. Their batting line-up collapsed in the last game and they can least afford a repeat of the save show. Having pushed Ireland into a corner Bryce would be looking for a series win in this game.

Sarah Bryce and Becky Glen would need to provide a solid start to the side in this game and put up a good stand. In the middle order Bryce would have to focus on building partnerships with Katie McGill, Ailsa Lister and Priyanaz Chatterji. Katherine Fraser will be expected to do the big hitting towards the end.

Becky Glen and Bryce bowled impressive spells in the last game and shall have to do the early damage in this as well. Fraser and McGill didn’t allow the Irish side to settle in the last game and the same would be expected from them. Chatterji adds to the depth in bowling for this side.

Scotland Women Predicted Playing XI:

Kathryn Bryce (c), Sarah Bryce (wk), Becky Glen, Katie McGill, Priyanaz Chatterji, Ailsa Lister, Abbi Aitken Drummond, Megan McColl, Samantha Haggo, Katherine Fraser, Abtaha Maqsood

Weather Conditions

It would be overcast and there are chances of rains at Belfast on May 25. It would be difficult for the batters to play their strokes as the ball isn’t expected to come on to the bat. Given the kind of batting we saw from the two sides in the last game any score of 120 or more would be a tough chase here.

Venue Details

Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast is a small venue with shorter squarer boundaries. There is not of movement for the fast bowlers on this surface and batters have generally struggled to play their strokes. There isn’t much on this surface for the spinners and they will have to use their variations well in this game.

Toss: To Bowl

The conditions would be difficult at the start of the game where the ball is expected to move around a bit. The side that wins the toss would like to take advantage of the conditions by inflicting early damages with the new ball.

Ireland Women are under pressure as they come into this game. They wasted an opportunity to win the last game due to poor batting. However the side does have a strong batting line-up. Bowlers saved the day for Scotland Women in the last game and they can’t expect a lucky escape again. It would be a close game but Ireland Women playing at home would start nose ahead here.
