Tournament: Lanka Premier League 2021 | Format: T20 | Venue: R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowThe competition has heated up in the Lanka Premier League 2021 and we have a big contest coming up as the Jaffna Kings take on the Colombo Stars. The Kings showed good form in their last game defeating the Kandy Warriors. The Stars on the other hand suffered their first loss of the season going down against the Dambulla Giants in the last game.
It is expected to be a very close game considering the form we have seen from the two sides so far. The Colombo Stars would be under pressure after their poor efforts with the ball in the last game. But the side has good players in this format of the game, and they are unlikely to make it easy for the Jaffna Kings here.
Back-to-back wins would add to Thisara Perera’s confidence. It was an excellent effort by the side in a rain-curtailed game against the Kandy Warriors which they won by 14 runs. It was a tremendous effort with the bat from the side in the game and Perera would want his players to take this momentum forward. They would face a tough challenge against the Stars and the skipper would like to see good efforts from his players.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz hasn’t delivered as yet, and he would need to score runs opening the batting with in-form Avishka Fernando. They have a strong middle order with Perera looking in good form and he would aim to add runs with Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Shoaib Malik. Chaturanga de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Upul Tharanga add depth to this line-up with their hitting abilities and this would make the side confident.
Maheesh Theekshana has shown great form so far, but he would need good support from Hasaranga opening the bowling for the side. Jayden Seales had a bad day in the last game and must come up with tighter spells here. Thisara Perera, Chaturanga de Silva, and Suranga Lakmal add depth to this bowling attack but they would have to get their lines right which hasn’t been the case so far.

Dhananjaya de Silva would be upset with the performance his side put up against the Dambulla Giants in the last game. They bowled poorly to allow the Giants to put up a big score on the board. The Stars’ skipper would take heart from the good show his batsmen put up in this game and shall look to win this game and get their campaign back on track.
Openers Tom Banton and Pathum Nissanka got starts in the last game and the side would like to see them convert these into big scores. They have good firepower in the middle order with Kusal Perera, Sherfane Rutherford, and David Weise on the side. The side bats deep with Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Keemo Paul being good hitters and they have to play important roles in this game.
It was a poor display with the ball from them in the last game and the side would need early wickets from Dushmantha Chameera who has bowled well so far sharing the new ball with Dhananjaya de Silva. Weise’s return would strengthen the bowling for the team. Seekkuge Prasanna has done well and shall have to bowl tight spells in the middle overs with Akila Dhananjaya and Paul.

There are predictions for overcast skies and rains at Colombo on December 10. The batting conditions won’t be as easy as we have seen so far in the tournament. The wicket has been flat tough and the side batting first in this game would aim to put 160 runs on the board to feel confident.
R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo has a flat surface and lightning-quick outfield which has been a paradise for the batsmen. The conditions are difficult for the fast bowlers with little on the wicket for them. The wicket does offer good turn and we have seen spinners enjoy a good record at this venue in the past.
It is an evening game and we have seen most of the sides prefer to bowl first in these games. There are predictions for rain and in case the overs get curtailed the side chasing the score would have an advantage. Hence, the side winning the toss here is likely to opt for bowling first in this game.
The Colombo Stars must get their campaign back on track after a poor performance in the last game. Their bowlers would have to get things in order as they were all over the place against the Dambulla Giants and ended up conceding a big total. The Jaffna Kings did well in the last game and their batting is looking in great shape. This would offer them a slight edge in this contest.
