We are into the 15th game of the Lanka Premier League 2021 and the Kandy Warriors would face an uphill challenge as they take on the Colombo Stars. The Kandy Warriors went down against the Jaffna Kings in the last game and currently occupy the bottom of the points table. The Stars got over their poor run in the tournament with a big win in the last game against the Galle Gladiators  

It is a do-or-die game for the Kandy Warriors who have suffered four defeats in the five games they have played so far. Their players have been inconsistent, and the side is down on confidence. Angelo Perera’s side suffered yet another loss in the last game, their fourth in five games. In a rain-curtailed game against the Jaffna Kings, the side went down by 7 wickets. They find themselves in a spot of bother as they must win all games from here to find a place for themselves in the playoffs. The Colombo Stars haven’t been at their best and Perera would sniff an opportunity here. 

Openers Charith Asalanka and Ahmed Shehzad played well in the last game and the side would like to see a good start from them. The middle-order hasn’t been in the best form and Minod Bhanuka, Perera and Tom Moores would have to do well here. Ravi Bopara and Kamindu Mendis would have important roles down the order as their top order hasn’t been in the best of form. 

On the bowling front, the side would like to see better spells from Shiraz Ahmed and Nimesh Vimukthi in this game after their ordinary bowling in the last game. This has been one of the major problems for the side in this season. Sachin Colombage, Mendis, and Binura Fernando would have to keep the flow of runs under control in the middle overs of the game for the side to challenge the Colombo Stars.

Angelo Matthew is back leading the side and he would be happy with the performance of his team in the last game. They broke their three-game losing streak to win the last game against the Galle Gladiators by 41 runs. The side batted well, and their bowlers also played a complementary role in the last game. Matthews would like to see a similar show from his team in the next game. 

Matthews led from the front and played a good knock, and he would look to set up a good stand with Pathum Nissanka in this game. Ashan Priyanjan also played well, and he would aim to set up partnerships with Tom Banton and Seekkuge Prasanna in this game. The side would also like to see big hitting towards the end from Dinesh Chandimal and Ravindu Fernando in this game.
