Galle Gladiators to win
Tournament: Lanka Premier League 2021 | Format: T20 | Venue: R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowWe are into the 5th game of the Lanka Premier League 2021 and Kandy Warriors would look for the first win as they play against the Galle Gladiators. The Warriors suffered a big loss in the last game against the Dambulla Giants and this would be worrying them. The Gladiators after making a perfect start to the tournament also did poorly in the last game going down against the Colombo Stars.
The Kandy Warriors would be worried about the form of their bowlers who bowled extremely poorly in the last game. They can’t afford the same against the Gladiators who have good hitters of the ball in the side. With both teams looking for a win we would see a tight contest here.
Angelo Perera’s side has started with a loss. It was a poor show with the ball for the side against the Dambulla Giants where they lost by 20 runs. Their batsmen went about chasing the big score aggressively but failed to take the side over the finishing line. The Gladiators would be a tough side to beat and Perera would like to see better efforts from his bowlers in this game.
Kennar Lewis and Devon Thomas didn’t trouble the scorers much in the last game and have to deliver a good start here. Charith Asalanka would need to steer this innings along with Kamindu Mendis. Rovmann Powell looks good at the moment. In Asela Gunaratne, Ishan Jayaratne, and Sachindu Colambage they have powerful strikes of the ball to follow.
Jayaratne and Lahiru Kumara did well in the last game with the new ball but they would have to bowl better lines considering the form of other bowlers. Al-Amin Hossain, Gunaratne, and Colombage bowled extremely poor lines in the last game and a better show would be expected from them in this game. Mendis and Powell shall be expected to play the supporting act well here.

After a good start that saw them winning the first game, Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s side suffered a 4-wicket loss in the last game against the Colombo Stars. They batted poorly to register a below-par total on this wicket. Their bowlers defended the score bravely and this would add to their confidence. Rajapaksa would aim for his side’s second win of the season here.
Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis have failed in both games, and this would be worrying the side. They need to deliver the goods here. Mohammad Hafeez shall look to score runs after two failures and do well in the middle order with Samit Patel and Ben Dunk. The side has good depth in its batting with Rajapaksa, Isuru Udana, and Lahiru Maudshanka to follow.
Patel and Nuwan Thushara would aim to grab early wickets and they did well with the new ball in the last game. In Noor Ahmed and Hafeez, the side has two bowlers who are looking in good shape and this would add to their confidence. Pulina Tharanga would need to take advantage of the turn on this surface and do well in this game.

The skies over Colombo would see odd clouds on December 7. The wicket has played well so far and we have seen sides put up big scores on the board. Bowlers are finding it difficult to adjust to these conditions. The side batting first in this game would need a minimum of 170 runs to feel comfortable.
R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo is known for being one of the best batting surfaces in the world. The fast outfield and the flat surface have always offered an advantage to the batsmen. Fast bowlers have generally struggled at this venue while spinners do get assistance from the wicket and have enjoyed a good record.
We have seen a hint of dew factor in the second innings of the game and bowling here with the wet ball isn’t easy in the 2nd innings. The wicket is good for run chases in the evening and the side winning the toss here is likely to opt for bowling first and take advantage of the batting conditions later.
The Kandy Warriors would be under pressure to perform having lost their previous game. Their bowling attack was torn apart and this would be worrying the side as they take on one of the strongest batting line-ups in this tournament. Gladiators had an off day in the last game but the side has good balance and they would start slightly ahead of the Warriors in this game.
