Tournament: Lanka Premier League 2021 | Format: T20 | Venue: R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowWe have already seen close games in the Lanka Premier League 2021 and the 7th game would see Kandy Warriors take on the Jaffna Kings. The Warriors have suffered two losses in a row and come here with a loss against the Galle Gladiators. The Kings on the other hand registered a massive win against the Dambulla Giants in the last game.
The Kandy Warriors would be a worried lot after two losses and they have to win this game to remain in the hunt for a berth in the playoffs. The side would need a collective effort here to win the game. The Kings would be high on confidence and it would be interesting to see if the Warriors can avoid a third straight loss.
Angelo Perera’s side comes here with a 4-wicket loss against the Galle Gladiators. Poor bowling and sloppy fielding where they dropped two catches at crucial phases of the game led to their defeat. The side would have to regroup here and come up with a better show to keep their hopes alive for a berth in the next round.
Kennar Lewis has struggled and he would have to set up a good stand with Ahmed Shehzad who did well in the last game. The side would need good efforts from Charith Asalanka, Kamindu Mendis, and Angelo Perara in the middle order. In Tillakaratne Sampath, Rovmann Powell, and Ishan Jayaratne, the side has good stroke makers down the order.
Sampath and Charith Asalanka bowled well in the last game but the side would like to see better efforts with the new ball from Al-Amin Hossain who has been expensive in both the games played so far. Sachindu Colombage and Mendis are in good form and they would have to bowl good line and length here as Jaffna Kings have good hitters of the ball.

Thisara Perera’s side made a strong comeback to the tournament defeating the Dambulla Giants in the last game. They won it convincingly by 8 wickets with their batsmen and bowlers executing the plan well. This victory would allow the side to get over the massive loss they suffered against the Galle Gladiators in the first game. Perera would look to push forward this momentum and register their second win.
Avishka Fernando batted well in the last game but the side would like to see better performance from Rahmanullah Gurbaz who looked rusty in the last game. Shoaib Malik and Tom Kohler-Cadmore set up a match-winning stand and along with Upul Tharanga strengthen the middle order. In Perara, Hasaranga, and Chaturanga de Silva the side has good finishers which would make them confident.
Maheesh Theekshana has been brilliant in the two games and he would look to strike early sharing the new ball with Suranga Lakmal who is bowling well. Hasaranga would look to use the conditions well here and make it tough for the batsmen to score runs in the middle overs. Jayden Seales and Chaturanga de Silva bowled tight lines in the last game and the same would be expected from them here as well.

Colombo would see partly cloudy skies on December 8. It has been a great wicket to bat on and we have already seen big scores being set up by the batsmen. Fast bowlers have struggled on this wicket so far. The side batting first in this game would need at least 160-170 runs on board to feel comfortable.
R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo has been a happy hunting ground for the batsmen. The fast outfield and the flat surface allow them to score runs easily here. Spinners enjoy the conditions as the dry surface lets them turn the ball easily. It is a tough venue for the fast bowlers as there is no assistance for them from the track.
It's an evening game and we have already seen dew as a major factor where bowlers are finding it difficult to grip the ball. The wicket would be good right through the innings and run chase isn’t likely to pose a problem. Hence, the side winning the toss should have little hesitation in opting to bowl first.
The Kandy Warriors would be under pressure to deliver having lost both their games. The side has failed to play as a unit and they would have to work towards collective efforts going into this game. The Jaffna Kings have all their bases covered after the tremendous show in the last game. They would look to carry on with the performance and start favorites here.
