Defending champions Kent Spitfires would be looking to restore their pride as they play Gloucestershire in the next game of Vitality T20 Blast 2022 at home. The hosts went down against Middlesex in the last game, their eighth defeat in ten games this season. They sit at the bottom of the points table. Gloucestershire hasn’t had a great season either and their last game against Glamorgan was washed away by rain.
Gloucestershire has enjoyed an excellent record against the Kent Spitfires in the past and lost just twice against them in the last 10 games. The side would like to take inspiration from their record and improve their prospects on the points table with a win here. It will be interesting to see if the Spitfires and able to surprise everyone and win this game.
Sam Billings’ side is having a forgettable season this year. The defending champions have won just two games so far and are out of contention for a berth in the next round. It has been a season where nothing has worked for them, and they come here with a 7-wicket loss against Middlesex. Billings shall have to inspire confidence in his players as they look for a face-saving win.
Zak Crawley and Joe Denly have failed to deliver good starts and they must set up a good opening wicket stand in this game. In the middle order Billings will have to lead from the front and make runs with Jordan Cox and Alex Blake who have failed to convert their starts into big scores. Jack Leaning and George Linde are good hitters of the ball, and the side would expect them to make good use of the long handle.
Fred Klaassen and Matt Milnes bowled poor lines in the last game and the side would expect to see a good spell from them with the new ball. Qais Ahmed is the best bowler on the side, and he will have to work his magic for the side to challenge their opponents. Linde and Matthew Quinn also need to bowl well as this team doesn’t have much bowling depth.

Their last game against Glamorgan was abandoned due to rain and Jack Taylor would be aware of the importance of a win here. They are sitting 5th on the points table and Taylor would like to keep the side’s hopes alive for a berth in the quarter-final with a win here. Their opponents are struggling, and the Gloucestershire skipper would like to take advantage of it here.
Openers Miles Hammond and James Bracey have scored runs this season and the side would need a good start from them in this game. The middle-order is power-packed as they have the experienced trio of Glenn Phillips, Ian Cockbain, and Ryan Higgins and they would be expected to score runs. Taylor and Benny Howell can strike the ball and add to the side’s batting strength.
Mohammad Amir coming to the team has sharpened the bowling attack and he will aim to get wickets sharing the new ball with Matt Taylor. Phillips and Howell have also bowled well in the last few games, and this would make them confident. The side would like to see a good spell from Josh Shaw in this game.

The skies over Canterbury would be clear on June 21 and we expect to see a high-scoring contest. The wicket has been a belter in the last couple of games and there has been little for bowlers on this track. The side that bats first in the game shall have to have a minimum of 180 runs on the board to feel safe.
St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury has been a paradise for batsmen, and we have seen them score lots of runs in the past. The surface has true bounce and pace, and this allows batsmen to play their strokes freely. Fast bowlers do get some assistance here in early overs. Spinners have struggled here as the small size of the ground makes it difficult for them to attack.
We have seen good batting surfaces in the last two games that have been played here. Big scores have been made and sides have won batting first. The toss would be tricky for both the captains, and we expect them to take a cue from the results of the last two games and opt for batting here.
Kent Spitfires have had an extremely poor season. The key players in the side have been out of form and there seems to be no respite from this for the side. Their batsmen will need to come up with a good performance for the side to win this game. Gloucestershire has had an excellent record against them in the past. Their bowling attack is strong, and this would make the side favourites to win here.
