Kent’s problem has been that their batting has mostly revolved around Joe Denly (358 runs at a strike rate of 120.94) and Jordan Cox (292 runs at 130.35). They needed another aggressive batter in the middle but sadly, the batting unit has led them down. The only batter in their lineup with a strike rate of over 150 is George Linde but he too had a poor season and managed only 163 runs.

Kent’s bowling hasn’t been that great either. Grant Stewart has 10 wickets but he’s gone at an economy of 9.40. Afghanistan leg-spinner Qais Ahmad has done a good job, picking up 8 wickets at 7.39. But it’s too much for him to deliver every time.

Sussex Preview

Sussex will be brimming with confidence after handing table-toppers Surrey their first loss of the season. After batting first at the County Ground in Hove, Sussex posted 172-5 and won the match by 17 runs. The return of Mohammad Rizwan at the top immediately changed their fortunes as the Pakistani wicket-keeper batter top-scored with a fluent 48 off 32 balls. An in-form Rizwan can help them get a few wins under their belt before the end of the season. 

Middle-order batter Tom Alsop will be another one in focus as he’s the leading run-getter for Sussex this season with 313 runs at a strike rate of 157.28. Sadly, there’s not much else to look forward to in their batting unit.

Sussex’s bowling has been led by fast bowler Tymal Mills this year who has 15 wickets in his kitty at an economy of 9.47. Steven Finn (14 wickets at 8.72) has been pretty consistent too and the addition of star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has bolstered their bowling unit considerably.
