Kenya would have hoped that the ODI series would have started positively after being defeated in the T20i series. But the Nepal team continued right from where they started. There is still hope for Kenya to salvage the series, given they have 2 games still remaining, but it will be a monumental task to unsettle this Nepal side.
At the start, Kenya would have definitely been the happier side after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Things could not have gotten worse as they lost the wicket in the first over itself, and the downfall continued. The rare glimmer of hope was the middle order who tried to salvage some pride and get the total to a respectable score, which they did.
On the other hand, Nepal started right from where they left off. Even with absentees including Rohit Paudel and Sandeep Lamichhane, the Nepal outfit was too strong for this Kenya side. They will want to keep up the performance and seal the series in the next match itself.
Kenya will be playing to live another day in the series, whereas Nepal would want to finish it off in the next game itself.
Things could not have gone worse for the home side as they put out quite a disappointing display in the 1st ODI. winning the toss and opting to bat first, they got off to the worst start possible losing both their openers within the first 4 overs. The middle order tried its best but could only muster a mere 218 runs.
As disastrous as the top order was, the middle order looked in fine touch. Rakep Patel and Collins Obuya scored 67 and 62 respectively, in an effort to salvage a sinking ship but couldn't quite do so. The top order was very disappointing and will want to put up a much better display in the remainder of the series.
Quite frankly the bowling department could not have done much given the total they had to defend. The Nepal batsmen were in fine form, putting up a 100-run partnership for the first wicket. Rakep Patel, Vishal Patel, and Collins Obuya picked up one wicket each, and that was pretty much it. The bowling department would hope to have a much better performance in the next game.
Key Players: Vraj Patel, Irfan Karim, Rakep Patel, Lucas Oluoch
Shem Ngoche (c), Sachin Bhudia, Emmanuel Bundi, Irfan Karim, Alex Obanda, Collins Obuya, Eugene Ochieng, Nehemiah Odhiambo, Nelson Odhiambo, Lucas Oluoch, Elijah Otieno, Rakep Patel, Vraj Patel, Sukhdeep Singh
It all seems a bit too easy for this Nepal team given how convincingly they are winning games. After restricting the Kenyans to a mere 218, the batsmen chased down the total without breaking a sweat, as they were in complete control of the chase from the get-go. It was quite a complete performance from the Nepal team and they would want to continue this run.
Aasif Sheikh scored a match-winning 110 off 120 balls, whilst opening partner Arjun Saud scored 61 off 97 balls. The duo was absolutely outstanding, as they completely deflated the Kenyans with that opening stand. Gyanendra Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee put the finishing touches and finished off a complete performance against the Kenyan Team.
The bowling department was in full swing as they blew away the Kenyans right from the start. Sompal Kami and Karan KC picked up 3 wickets each, making it difficult for the Kenya batsmen to find any rhythm. In spite of resting Sandeep Lamichhane, the bowling attack looked quite solid, as they have throughout the tour.
Key Players: Arjun Saud, Aasif Sheikh, Gyanendra Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee

The weather will be very pleasant, with a 13% chance of rain on match day. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be in the 23°C - 12°C range.
Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi has a capacity of around 7,000 people. The stadium has already been used for the T20 series, and will remain the venue for the remainder of the ODIs as well.
As both teams have already faced each other quite a few times, teams will look to win the toss and bowl first. The history of the ground is famous for teams chasing winning the game, bowling first will be the way to go after winning the toss.
The Kenyans will have to fight with everything they have if they have to stay alive in the series. They will want to be much more competitive, and make a comeback in the series. Nepal, on the other hand, have been simply outstanding throughout and would want to continue that run and seal the series tomorrow itself. They seem quite solid, so it will be a task for Kenya to make a comeback.
