Five-time title winners  Mumbai Indians would be under pressure in the 14th game of the  Indian Premier League 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Mumbai has lost both its games and their bowling attack was demolished by Rajasthan Royals in the last game. KKR on the other hand has looked good and the side comes into this game with a comprehensive win against Punjab Kings. 

Mumbai Indians are struggling to find balance on their side as Suryakumar Yadav’s injury remains a concern for the team. A loss here would push them into a corner. The side would need better efforts from their bowlers who have looked in poor shape in both the games. The two sides are evenly matched in terms of skills and we should have a good contest that goes down the wire.

Shreyas Iyer’s side has started well in the tournament winning two out of the three games they have played. It was an excellent effort from the side with the bat and the ball against Punjab Kings in the last game where they won by 4 wickets. Iyer would like to make good use of the opportunity in this game as Mumbai Indians have struggled so far in the tournament. 

Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane form a good opening pair for the side and they would look to exploit the poor form Mumbai bowlers are in. The middle-order is the strongest point for the side and the trio of Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, and Sam Billings would look to score runs. Andre Russell played an electrifying knock in the last game and he adds to the batting strength with Sunil Narine. 

Umesh Yadav has played to his strengths with the new ball and forms a lethal new-ball pair with Tim Southee. Varun Chakravarthy and Narine are smart bowlers in this format and the side would like to see them trouble Mumbai’s batsmen as they have had so far in the season. Shivam Mavi has to justify his selection as he leaked runs in the last game and can’t afford the same against Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma would be a worried man. It has been two losses for the side and in both the games it is the bowling attack that has been found wanting. They failed to grab their opportunities in the last game against Rajasthan Royals going down by 23 runs. They must win this game to avoid going to the bottom of the points table. They have a good record against KKR, and Sharma would look to use it as an inspiration here. 

Sharma and Ishan Kishan have scored runs in the last two games and they will look to set up a good opening wicket stand in this game. Tilak Varma did well in the last game but the absence of Suryakumar Yadav is hurting the side. Anmolpreet Singh needs to fore in this game and steady the middle order. The side has good hitters of the ball in Kieron Pollard, Tim David, and Daniel Sams down the order. 

Their bowlers have been inconsistent, and this would be worrying the side. They will need good spells from Jasprit Bumrah and Daniel Sams at the start of the game as KKR have a strong batting line-up. Basil Thampi would need to get over that shocking over in the last game. Tymal Mills and Murugan Ashwin have to get their lines right and contribute to the side’s cause.
