The 12th game of CSA T20 Challenge 2019 to be played at Diamond Oval, Kimberly would be one between two sides with contrasting fortunes. The hosts Knights are going through one of their worst run of forms and are yet to register a win this season. On the other hand Titans are playing well and have one a game and lost the other one by close margin and would be confident going into the next game. 

The Knights would up as much against history as they would be up against their own form in this game. They have never won a game against Titans at Kimberly and also going through bad form at the moment. It remains to be seen if they are able to make a grand comeback in the next game.

Knights Preview

Petrus van Biljon’s team is in a spot of bother at the moment. They lost badly against the Lions in the last game where they failed to case a modest score of 151 runs required to win. With this loss they are sitting at the bottom of the table and are yet to register a win in this tournament. The skipper would want his side to put these upsets behind as they take on a strong Titans side in the next game. 

Andries Gous, Raynard van Tonder and Grant Mokoena got off to starts in the last game but failed to convert them into big scores. Patrick Kruger and skipper Petrus van Biljon are in bad form and they will need to do well in the next game for the side to win.

Gerald Coetzee bowled well in the last game but he was unable to put checks on the scoring rate. Tshepo Ntuli and Ryan McLaren also did well and the side would need better performances from Shadley van Schalkwyk to win the next game.

Titans Preview

Farhaan Behardien would have been upset to see the last game against the Dolphins being washed away by rain. The team looked in great form against the Cape Cobras with their key players delivering the goods. The skipper would be aware of the fact that the Knights aren’t in great form at the moment and would be looking to exploit this and win the next game. 

The performances from Diego Rosier and Henry Davids with the bat in the last game would have lifted the spirits of the side. They have a good batting line-up with Tony de Zorzi also being in good form. Theunis de Bruyn, Farhaan Behardien and Grant Thomson complete a good batting order for the side and they would look to take on the Knights bowlers in the next game. 

The bowlers had done well against the Cape Cobras in the last game. Shaun von Berg and Gregory Mahlokwana were the stars during the game. Junior Dala is due for a good performance given how well he is bowling for the last couple of months. Eldred Hawken and Grant Thomson too would be looking to bowl well in the next game.

Weather Conditions

There are predictions of heavy rains at Kimberly on the 14th of April the teams would be lucky to have a complete game. The last game was washed away at this ground. The pitch is expected to offer assistance to the fast bowlers due to the moisture in the surface and the side batting first would be happy with a score of around 160 runs.  

VENUE

Diamond Oval, Kimberley has been a happy hunting ground for the fast bowlers but in the T20 games played here we have also witnessed run feast. The bowlers get early assistance from the wicket and batsmen who settle on this track they can also pile up huge runs which makes it a good venue for T20 cricket.

Given the rain forecast for the match and the condition of the surface the team winning the toss would elect to bat first on this surface.  Also in a rain affected game the side chasing the score would have an advantage and hence the skipper who wins the toss would invite the opposition to bat first.
