There would be odd clouds over Karachi on February 20 and it would be a warm evening. We expect the surface to be flat and bowlers aren’t likely to have too much of support from the track. The side batting first in this game would be targeting a score near the 200 runs to dominate the game.
National Stadium Karachi is a great surface to bat on where batsmen can play the ball on the up. Fast bowlers have struggled here the past as there is hardly anything in the surface for them with the new ball. Spinners have enjoyed good success as the ball turns and stops on the batsmen.
Karachi has one of the best batting surfaces in Pakistan and over the years we have seen big scores at this venue. This is the first game of the tournament and the side winning the toss would have little hesitation in batting first here and putting up a big score on the board.
It is the first game of the tournament and there would be pressure on both the sides to perform. Quetta Gladiators have made several changes to their squad after the poor show in the last season and it will be interesting to see how they fare in this contest. Defending champions Karachi Kings have more or less retained the same side as last year and have good strength in their batting which would make them favorites here.
