Oman and Kuwait, the number 2 and 3 teams in the points table respectively, will lock horns in their last game as they battle it out for a spot in the Final.

While Kuwait started off with two consecutive wins in their first two matches, they are now at number 3 after losing their next two games in a row. Oman, on the other hand, bounced back with a big win in their last match defeating Saudi Arabia by 47 runs and getting a jump in their NRR enough to reach number 2.

Though Oman had lost to Bahrain by 1 run while chasing 124 runs, they’ve got a promising middle-order with reliable players. And now their top-order has also found its rhythm and will be a force to reckon with.

Kuwait also has a strong batting lineup with many in the middle-order delivering consistently, their bowling attack has failed in recent outings and will be a concern coming into this match.

Kuwait Preview

Kuwait will be disappointed with their recent performances. They would regret the 1-run loss against Qatar the most. Had it not been for that loss, Kuwait would have been comfortably placed at number 2 today.

In the very next game, which was always going to be a tough encounter, Kuwait conceded even more runs while bowling first. That is a major concern for skipper Muhammad Aslam coming into this match.

They’re up against a quality Oman side which features some promising batters in the middle order. If Kuwait continue their current bowling form and end up conceding 160+ runs bowling first, it will be quite a challenge to win the game.

Unlike other teams, Kuwait don’t need to worry about the NRR. A win here would be enough to reach the final. As such Meet Bhavsar and Usman Patel will be crucial in the middle order followed by skipper Muhammad Aslam and Shiraz Khan. Openers Ravija Sadaruwan and Adnan Idrees have also made significant contributions at the top.

Adnan Idrees and Shiraz Khan will also be crucial with the ball as they’ve been among the most consistent and reliable bowlers so far. Yasin Patel is a key wicket-taker to watch out for. However, there aren’t many big-impact players in this bowling attack and the best they’ve done so far is to bowl at a decent economy.

Kuwait Predicted Playing XI:

Meet Bhavsar, Usman Patel (wk), Ravija Sandaruwan, Sayed Monib, Parvindar Kumar, Mohammed Aslam (c), Shiraz Khan, Adnan Idrees, Mohamed Shafeeq, Yasin Patel, Clinto Anto

Oman Preview

Oman will be keen on carrying their winning momentum from the last game and seal the Final spot. Oman promoted wicket-keeper batsman Naseem Khushi to open the innings in the last game and the right-hand batsman scored a brilliant 64 off 45 balls.

While skipper Aqib Ilyas failed once again to make an impact at number 3, Ayaan Khan and Rafiullah at 4 and 5 stepped up and delivered great performances leading Oman to a highly competitive 1st innings total.

Jatinder Singh was sent at number 7 after failing to score runs at the top in his previous innings. After Khushi’s recent fifty, Oman will continue with him as the opener alongside the reliable Kashyap Prajapati.

Though Ilyas hasn’t got going in the last couple of matches, the skipper has great potential and if he gets going, Oman will be on top of the game. Oman should be confident coming into this match as they’ve got the right approach to their batting and also a few in-form and reliable players at key positions in the batting order.

Moreover, their skipper Aqib Ilyas is in good touch with the ball and has found the support of other key bowlers who’ve been consistent. Among the top wicket-takers in Oman are Fayaz Butt and Bilal Khan.

Oman Predicted Playing XI:

Kashyap Prajapati, Jatinder Singh, Aqib Ilyas (c), Mohammad Nadeem, Shoaib Khan, Ayaan Khan, Mehran Khan, Naseem Khushi (wk), Rafiullah, Fayyaz Butt, Bilal Khan

Weather Conditions

On a well-balanced pitch in Doha, two in-form batting lineups will go out to make the most of the conditions. There are plenty of runs on offer and the bowlers can also find help off the surface. This promises to be the most exciting contest of this tournament so far. The weather will be clear with periodic clouds in Doha with a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius at the time of this match.

Venue Details

Match number 15, Kuwait vs. Oman will be the last game of the league stage to be played at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha. A great venue for T20 cricket that has witnessed many big sixes and also brilliant bowling performances. A 165+ runs total in the first inning will be a match-winning total at this venue.

Toss: To Bat

Oman is likely to consider batting first given their success when batting first in this tournament so far. Though it is a good wicket to chase and bowlers can trouble the opposition with the new ball, batting first and setting a target will benefit both teams. Kuwait’s bowling has been expensive and they shouldn’t risk bowling first and chasing a target.

It is a close contest between two well-matched teams. Both batting lineups are quite deep with many big-hitting players who’ve been reliable and consistent. However, Oman have the momentum on their side and along with an in-form batting lineup, they’ve also got a better bowling attack. And that puts them slightly ahead of Kuwait in our match prediction. Oman will start as our favorite to win.
