It would be a battle of supremacy in the North Group as the Lancashire Lightning and Birmingham Bears play their final league game in Vitality T20 Blast, 2022. Both sides are through to the next round. The Bears come into this contest after another convincing win against Yorkshire Vikings while Lancashire has been slightly down on form losing to Worcestershire Rapids in the previous game the side played.  

In recent contests between the two teams, the Birmingham Bears have dominated the proceedings winning four out of the last five games.  They have excellent hitters of the ball in the team which adds to their confidence against good opposition. Lancashire Lightning come here with two consecutive losses, and it will be interesting to see if they can avoid the third one.

Dane Vilas’ side needs to strike form in the most crucial phase of the season. They come here with back-to-back losses and went down against the Worcestershire Rapids by 29 runs in their previous game. They don’t have the best record against the Bears and the side would have to punch above its weight to win this game.  

Phillip Salt and Jos Buttler shall need to set up a good opening wicket stand being the best batsmen for the side. Steven Croft, Tim David, and Vilas failed to score runs in the last game and the side would like to see them deliver. Down the order, the side would like to see quick run-scoring from the likes of Luke Wells, Danny Lamb, and Luke Wood as we expect this to be a high-scoring game.  

Richard Gleeson and Tom Hartley did well with the ball in the last game and they would like to strike early and put the Bears under pressure. They are up against the strongest batting unit in the tournament. Luke Wood and Matthew Parkinson will have an important role in the middle overs. The side would also hope to see a strong performance from Luke Wells in this game.

Carlos Brathwaite’s side is continuing with its dominance in the series. It was an excellent show by the table toppers in their last game against the Yorkshire Vikings where they won by 31 runs. They have had an excellent record against Lancashire in the past and Brathwaite shall look to maintain that and go into the quarterfinals with momentum on their side.  

Paul Stirling looks in excellent form and he would like to set up a good opening wicket stand with Alex Davies in this game. The middle-order is powerful for the team, and they would look for runs from Sam Hain, Adam Hose, and Chris Benjamin. Brathwaite is one of the best finishers in this format and he would look to add quick runs with Dan Mousley.  

Their bowlers went for runs in the last game and this is something that the team would have to work on. Danny Briggs and Olly Stone need to bowl better lines with the new ball for the side to put pressure on Lancashire. Craig Miles and Jacob Lintott shall look to trouble the opponents. Brathwaite’s experience is a big bonus for the side, and he would be confident after his good show in the last game.
