We are into the 12th game of the County Championship Division Two 2023, where hosts Leicestershire will be up against Glamorgan. Leicestershire's last game against Derbyshire was marred by rain and ended in a draw. Glamorgan were lucky to escape with a draw against Durham after the side was made to follow on.  

Glamorgan has dominated Leicestershire in the past, but their form hasn't been encouraging this season. Leicestershire's top order has looked in excellent form in the two games the side has played. They play on their home soil and know the conditions well. Glamorgan will have to do well with the bat to win this game.

Leicestershire Preview

Lewis Hill's side saw its last game against Derbyshire ending in a draw after rains played spoilsport. They started the season with a win against Yorkshire, and key players have looked good. They have struggled against Glamorgan in the last few seasons, and Hill would like to put that behind them and make good use of home advantage.   

Rishi Patel and Soloman Budinger have been in good form, and the side will look for a good start from the pair in this game. Hill and Colin Ackermann scored hundreds in the last game, and they solidify the middle order with Peter Handscomb. Wiaan Mulder, Rehan Ahmed, and Chris Wright add strength to this batting line-up, and a good show from them will put the side in a good position.  

Chris Wright has bowled well and will look to strike early in this game, sharing the new ball with Michael Finan. The side will need good spells from Edward Barnes and Josh Hull as their opponents have a strong batting line-up. Mulder and Rehan Ahmed need to do well in the supporting role.

Glamorgan Preview

David Lloyd's side avoided a defeat in the last game against Durham. Following on, the side had lost 6 wickets, but rains helped them escape with a draw. The bowling attack has failed to execute its plans in both games, and Lloyd will look for a good show from his side as they aim to register their first win this season.  

David Lloyd and Edward Byrom failed in the last game, and the side will need a strong start from them. Marnus Labuchange hasn't lived up to his reputation and needs to do well in the middle order with Sam Northeast. Kiran Carlson has been in good form, and the side will need him to add runs with Billy Root and Chris Cooke down the order.  

Their bowlers have been in poor form, and the side will need good spells from Michael Neser and Harry Podmore with the new ball. Timm van der Gugtenn and Daniel Douthwaite have to bowl good spells in the middle overs of the game. The side will also expect Carlson, Lloyd and Labuschagne to do well in the supporting act.

The weather forecast for Leicester is for rain and overcast conditions. The pitch is flat, and the batsmen have done well in the last game, but the bowlers would fancy their chances with heavy cloud cover. The side batting first would need to score more than 400 runs in the 1st innings.

Grace Road, Leicester, is a good ground for the batsmen. The flat pitch and the fast outfield have made scoring runs easy. Though the fast bowlers get some assistance in the initial overs, it is easy to bat on this wicket once the ball loses its shine. Spinners haven't fared well on this track.
