Leicestershire would be up against Nottinghamshire in the 60th game of the Royal London One-Day Cup, 2022. The hosts come here with a comfortable win against Gloucestershire and have booked their berth in the quarterfinals. Nottinghamshire is struggling for form, and they went down against Warwickshire in the last game.

Leicestershire has won five out of the six games they have played this season. They have won both their games here and this would make the side confident in this game. Nottinghamshire’s campaign has been a poor one and they are fighting for survival. It would be interesting to see if they can alter the trajectory with a win here.

Leicestershire Preview

Lewis Hill’s side has been in excellent form this season. They come here with an impressive 4-wicket win against Gloucestershire and sit comfortably at 2nd place on the points table. The side has already booked a berth in the quarterfinal. Hill would look to continue with the clean record at home where they have won both their games.

Nick Welch and Rishi Patel missed out in the last game, but they are a formidable pair, and the side would expect a good start from them. Hill played well in the last game, and he must anchor the middle order and add runs with Louis Kimber and Arron Lilley. Wiaan Mulder and Harry Swindells would look to add runs down the order in this game.

Their bowling attack has looked good, and the side would like to see a good show from Chris Wright and Beuran Hendricks with the new ball in this game. Kimber picked four wickets in the last game, and he would feel confident. Mulder is enjoying good form and the side would expect him to bowl tight lines in the middle overs with Ed Barnes.

Leicestershire Predicted Playing XI:

Lewis Hill (c), Nick Welch, Rishi Patel, Louis Kimber, Wiaan Mulder, Arron Lilley, Harry Swindells (wk), Tom Scriven, Edward Barnes, Chris Wright, Beuran Hendricks

Nottinghamshire Preview

Haseeb Hameed’s side is in a tough position after their 14-run loss against Warwickshire in the last game. The side currently sits 6th on the points table and must win this game to keep its hopes alive. It would be a difficult task for them, and Hameed would expect to see a strong show from his players in this game.

Soloman Budinger and Ben Slater must set up a good stand at the top as Leicestershire have a strong bowling attack. In the middle order, Hameed must lead from the front and add runs with Matthew Montgomery and Dane Schadendorf. They have depth in the line-up and runs would be expected from Liam Patterson-White and Lyndon James.

Their bowlers would be under pressure and the side would need early wickets from Brett Hutton and Dane Paterson to put their opponents under pressure. Zak Chappell and Liam Patterson-White will have to put brakes on the scoring rate for the opponents. Fateh Singh was expensive in the last game, and he must do well in this game.

Nottinghamshire Predicted Playing XI:

Haseeb Hameed (c), Soloman Budinger, Ben Slater, Matthew Montgomery, Dane Schadendorf (wk), Lyndon James, Liam Patterson-White, Brett Hutton, Zak Chappell, Fateh Singh, Dane Paterson

Weather Conditions

The weather forecast for Leicester on August 20 is for rains and overcast conditions. The pitch here is flat and is expected to be the same though the bowlers would fancy their chances with heavy cloud cover. The side batting first would need to score more than 300 runs to win the game.

Venue Details

Grace Road, Leicester is a good ground for the batsmen and over the years the flat pitch and the fast outfield have made scoring runs easy. Though the fast bowlers get some assistance in the initial overs it is easy to bat on this wicket once the ball loses its shine. Spinners haven’t fared well on this track.

Toss: To Bat

In the two games that have been played at this ground the side batting first has won by big margins. The pitch has been flat and expected to remain so in the next game as well. The captain winning the toss would want to bat first and put up a huge score on the board.

It has been an inconsistent campaign for Nottinghamshire, and they haven’t managed to rise to the occasion. Their batsmen have been in poor form and haven’t scored too many runs this season. Leicestershire on the other hand has been in great form and they have won both their games here. This would make them favorites in this contest.
