The second phase of PSL 2021 is set to begin as  Lahore Qalandars face Islamabad United in the 15th match to be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The second leg of the tournament will kick-start from 9th June as Pakistan Cricket Board and franchise owners agreed of staging the event outside Pakistan due to rising covid-19 cases.

Lahore Qalandars have shown decent form this season and are currently fourth in the league table with three wins to their name. On the other hand, Islamabad United led by Shadab Khan, are placed at third position at the moment.

In this year’s competition, Qalandars showed consistency with bat and ball before the tournament was postponed indefinitely due to second wave of coronavirus in Pakistan.

Lahore Qalandars Head Coach Aqib Javed will be hoping that the side can continue their decent run in the remaining matches of PSL.

The team will be banking on the experience trio of Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez and Ben Dunk to share most of the burden in batting. Left-hander Ben Dunk will be looking to go berserk in the final overs of the innings

The team has signed Australia opener Usman Khuwaja as a replacement for Hales for the remainder of PSL. South African opener Janneman Malan is another high-profile signing as England all-rounder Lewis Gregory has decided to skip PSL due to covid-19 pandemic.

The team will be heavily relying on the likes of Colin Munro, Usman Khuwaja and Shadab Khan to deliver the bulk of the runs.

Wicket-keeper Rohail Nazir, Hussain Talat and Iftikhar Ahmed will be given the task of producing quick-fire runs in the later stages of the innings.

In the bowling department, the onus will on the pacers Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf and spinner Fawad Ahmed to make crucial breakthroughs.
