Bet NowHost Lahore Qalandars will fight another battle to keep their slim playoff aspirations alive when they take on Peshawar Zalmi in the 24th match of 2020 Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.
Lahore Qalandars delivered a pitch-perfect batting performance to register a comprehensive win over Karachi Kings. With two wins in a row, Qalandars will try to keep the winning momentum in their home fixture.
On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi has managed to get their campaign back on the right track with back-to-back victories in the competition. Interim Skipper Wahab Riaz has not only led from the front with the ball in hand but has made smart decisions as a captain on the field.
In the previous game between the two teams, Peshawar Zalmi registered a comfortable win over Lahore Qalandars via DLS method.
Apart from their two victories against Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars have endured a tough time as a unit in this year’s competition.
Lahore Qalandars captain Sohail Akthar and middle-order batsman Ben Dunk scripted a comfortable eight-wicket win last night over Karachi Kings in to keep alive their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the competition. Chasing a daunting 188 runs to win, Fakhar Zaman perished for a duck to see pacer Mohammad Amir provided an early breakthrough in the first over of the innings.
Sohail Akthar and Mohammad Hafeez led the recovery for Qalandars and added 48 runs for the second wicket. After the dismissal of Hafeez, Akthar and Dunk stitched together an unbeaten 140-run partnership for the third wicket to see Qalandars storm to a dominant win.
Akthar led from the front with the bat and smashed 68 not out off 46 balls with the help of six boundaries and two six. But the star of the show was Ben Dunk, who once again 12 sixes in his innings. Left-hander finished the innings with the top-score of 99 runs off 40 balls.
Bowling has been a cause of concern for Qalandars in this year’s competition. Opening the bowling with left-arm spinner Samit Patel has worked well for the side in the last two matches. Surprisingly, rookie medium-pacer Maaz Khan was the star bowler on display for Lahore Qalandars and finished with 2 for 31 in his four overs.

2017 PSL Champions seem to be peaking at the right time in this year’s competition. With two wins in a row, the side will stick with the same combination for this game.
After not doing much in the last couple of matches, wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal made a strong comeback with the bat for Peshawar Zalmi. He put in a splendid inning of 37 runs off 21 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six.
For the team to produce consistently with the bat, the likes of Tom Banton, Liam Livingstone, and Imam-ul-Haq need to take up more responsibility in the remaining round-robin matches. In the rain-affected game, Tom Banton played well and scored 20 runs off 16 balls with the help of three boundaries, whereas Haider Ali chipped in with 16 runs off 8 balls with the help of one four and one six.
Experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik has been among the runs this season and has notched up splendid performances for the side in the last couple of matches.
The biggest positives for Peshawar Zalmi have to be the way Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz have bowled in the last couple of games. With figures of 2 for 36 in four overs, pacer Hasan Ali was once again the pick of the bowlers and delivered another excellent effort in tough conditions. Rahat Ali, Wahab Riaz, and Carlos Brathwaite claimed one wicket each.

The wicket at Gaddafi Stadium is going to be a placid one with some assistance for the spinners. The average 1st innings score at the venue is 160 runs. The weather forecast for Tuesday’s game is expected to be bright and sunny throughout the day.
Peshawar Zalmi will fancy their chances of beating Lahore Qalandars in this contest. The franchise has managed to win seven games on the bounce against Lahore Qalandars in the PSL.
Out of six PSL matches played at Gaddafi Stadium, toss has indeed played a key role in the outcome of the game. Winning the toss and batting second on this surface will be the preferred option in this game.
In the battle of two unpredictable teams, Lahore Qalandars are expected to come out on top in this contest. There is little to choose between the two batting units in this contest. Home advantage will certainly play a big role in this all-important clash.
Both teams seem to be on a high note at the moment. Lahore Qalandars team still has a slim chance of qualifying for the play-offs and their batting unit looks in great shape. Peshawar Zalmi team has also picked up the pace and won the last 2 games, one of them courtesy to the DLS method against Islamabad United. Their batting attack led by Shoaib Malik can be a nightmare for any bowling unit. It will be a tough battle between two strong batting line-ups.
Expect Lahore Qalandars to maintain their dominance at home!
