Lions Preview

Temba Bavuma would have been upset to see their last game against the Knights being washed away. Given the form, the Knights are in he would have expected his side to win the game. In the next game, they take on Dolphins whom they had defeated earlier in the season and would be looking to repeat that success. 

The top order looks good for the Lions with Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks and Ryan Rickelton having been among the runs in this tournament so far. They are likely to pose a big challenge for the Dolphins in the next game. Wiaan Mulder, Dwaine Pretorius, and Temba Bavuma have played their part well so far and would be looking to do well in the next game. 

Bowling has been a strong point for the side this season with Bjorn Fortuin and Aaron Phangiso looking in great form and picking wicket and bowling economical spells. The side would expect a good show with the ball from Nono Pongolo, Dwaine Pretorius and Migael Pretorius who form a well-balanced attack together.

It was a big upset for Khaya Zondo’s side in their last game against the Titans. Having put on 185 runs batting first in the game they failed to defend that total. The side has lost the last three games on a trot and is low on morale. They had lost against the Lions earlier and would be looking to do well in the next game. 

Morne van Wyk played well in the last game and so did Cody Chetty. The team would be worried about the form of Sarel Erwee who hasn’t been able to score runs this season as the team’s fortune depends on him. Khaya Zondo and Robbie Frylinck have done well in the middle order and they would be looking to repeat this success in the next game. 

It was a poor bowling effort from the side in the last game that resulted in their loss. Daryn Dupavillon and Prenelan Subrayen did well but the rest went for more than 10 runs an over. Andile Phehlukwayo and Robbie Frylinck will need to bowl well in the next game for the side to win.

Weather Conditions

There are chances of light showers on the 22nd of April at Potchefstroom. The wicket has a bit of grass cover which assists the fast bowlers. The ball tends to move sideways as well making batting challenging on this surface. Aside from putting up a score of 150 runs batting first would feel comfortable on this surface.

VENUE

Senwes Park, Potchefstroom offers a lot of assistance to the fast bowlers both off the surface as well as in the air. But the shorter boundaries also make it a good ground for the batsmen who can take their chances and hit over the top. It is a good T20 venue balancing it out between the bowlers and the batsmen.
