The Nellai Royal Kings suffered a defeat against the Chepauk Super Gilles in the 1st Qualifier game coming into this contest.  

The Nellai Royal Kings have lost the last two games after having won all the games in the series. The side has lost its form and momentum in the most crucial phase of the tournament, and this would worry the management. The Kovai Kings have defeated them in the last four out of five games. Shahrukh Khan’s side has gained form when it matters the most. They defeated the Madurai Panthers by 20 runs under the DLS method in the Eliminator game.  Khan would take inspiration from his side’s earlier win against the Nellai Royal Kings. However, he can’t afford to relax as his opponents have been the most difficult side to beat in this edition of the tournament.  

Openers Ganga Sridhar Raju and Suresh Kumar are in good form and guided the side with an unbeaten stand in the last game. A similar start from them would put the side in a comfortable position. The middle order looks good with Sai Sudharsan Shahrukh Khan and Abhishek Tanwar having lots of runs under their belts. However, their lower middle order hasn’t been at its best and the likes of Shijit Chandran, U Mukilesh, and Balu Surya have to deliver the goods in this knockout game.   

Abhishek Tanwar has enjoyed a great run with the ball, and he would look to deliver the early breakthroughs with S Ajith Ram who also looks in good form. Khan comes into this game with his confidence high and he will have to keep a check on the scoring rate. Balu Surya, Manish Ravi, and R Divakar shall have to be at their best for the side to win this contest.

Nellai Royal Kings Preview

Baba Indrajith’s side had an excellent run in the tournament but the side lost form in the worst possible phase. They have suffered back-to-back losses and went down in the 1st qualifier against the Chepauk Super Gilles by 5 wickets. Their record against Kovai Kings isn’t encouraging and Indrajith would like his team to bounce back and make it to the final for the first time with a win here.  

Laxmesha Suryaprakash and NS Harish will have to play good knocks up the order as the Kovai Kings have a strong bowling attack. In the middle order, the side has experienced players and runs would be expected from the bats of Baba Aparajith, Sanjay Yadav, and Indrajith. Down the order G Ajitesh, Jitendra Kumar and M Shahjahan shall need to make good use of the long handle.  

Their bowlers have failed in back-to-back games, and this would be a major concern for the team. V Athisayaraj Davidson and K Easwaran must deliver early wickets and put the side in a comfortable position. They would also expect tight spells from Sanjay Yadav and Aparajith in the middle overs. Karthick Manikandan bowled well in the last game, and this would add to his confidence.

SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore is a small ground and has short boundaries. The ball comes to the bat nicely on this flat surface. Fast bowlers have done well here when the conditions are overcast which we expect to see in the next game. Spinners get the ball to turn but they have little margin for error due to the small size of the ground.
