The London Spirit on the other hand have been through a miserable run and lost their last game against the Northern Superchargers. 

London Spirit are still hunting for the first victory in the season, and they have looked short of form both with the bat and the ball in the games played so far. The side would have to turn it around in this game for a face-saving win. Manchester Originals are playing at home, and this would add to their confidence here as they look to book a berth in the Eliminator round.

Carlos Brathwaite’s side saw its last game against Southern Brave being washed away by rain. The side has done well to win two out of the three completed games they have featured in. A win in this game would put them in a strong position and Brathwaite would look to go to the top of the points table with a good show. 

Openers Phillip Salt and Joe Clarke have done well, and the side would like to see a good show from them here. They have a very strong middle order in Colin Munro, Colin Ackermann and Sam Hain. This is a confidence booster for the side. In Tom Lammonby, Calvin Harrison and Brathwaite they have a power hitting lower order and this is likely to give them the edge. 

Steven Finn and Brathwaite need to come up with a good show in this game with the new ball and they would look to exploit the weaknesses that Originals have. Tom Hartley has looked in good form and he will need to do well along with Lockie Ferguson, Matthew Parkinson and Calvin Harrison.

The miserable run for Eoin Morgan’s side shows no signs of fading away. The side has lost 4 games and shared the points in the other one. They went down by 63 runs against the Northern Superchargers in the last game and this has ended their hopes of making it to the Eliminator round. As they play for pride in this game, Morgan would like to see better efforts from his players. 

Adam Rossington and Josh Inglis haven’t been consistent, and this is causing problems for the side at the moment. They must set up a good opening wicket stand in the game. In the middle order Eoin Morgan, Luis Reece and Mohammad Nabi need to play well here for the side to win. Ravi Bopara and Joe Denly will have to play a very important role as the top order hasn’t done well so far. 

Their bowling attack too has been found short of form in most games and the side would need early wickets from Denly and Roelof van der Merwe in this game. Mohammad Nabi and Mohammad Amir have lots of experience and they need to bring this to play here. Blake Cullen and Mason Crane need to play the supporting act well in this contest.

Manchester is likely to see rains on August 10 and we would be lucky to see a full game here. The wicket is generally flat, but the overcast conditions are likely to make it slightly challenging for the batsmen. The side batting first would be target a score in excess of 150 runs to win here.

Venue Details

Old Trafford is a good batting surface where the ball comes on to the bat nicely and allows batsmen to play their strokes. We have seen big sores in this venue in the past.  Fast bowlers do well with the new ball as there is assistance for them and the larger size of the boundaries also allows the spinners to try out their variations.

Toss: To Bowl

Most sides have chosen to bowl first on this surface as the wicket is flat and setting up a score here is a big challenge. Having a victory target in mind works better for the teams. Hence, we believe the side that wins the toss here should look to take advantage of this and bowl first.
