Manchester Originals Women’s battle against odds versus Southern Brave
Southern Brave Women to win
As The Hundred Women’s Competition 2021 enters its most crucial phase, it is now a battle against odds for the Manchester Originals Women as they play this home game against Southern Brave Women. They suffered a massive loss against Welsh Fire Women in their last game while the Southern Brave Women come here with a convincing win against London Spirit Women.
Southern Brave Women have won all the four games the side has played, and they have displayed good show with the bat and the ball. In contrast Manchester Originals Women are yet to register their first win of the competition. The hosts would need to bring out their best form to halt the Southern Brave juggernaut.
Kate Cross’ side is not getting it right this season. They bowled extremely poor lines in the last game against Welsh Fire Women to go down by 9 wickets in the game. This is their last chance of keeping hopes alive for a berth in the Eliminator game and Cross would want the team to play to its full potential against the table toppers.
Lizelle Lee and Emma Lamb must deliver the goods opening the batting as they have been out playing poor shots. In the middle order the side does have good strength with Mignon du Preez, Georgie Boyce and Harmanpreet Kaur. They need to steer the innings and score quick runs. Sophie Ecclestone has been striking the ball well and this would add to the side’s confidence.
Kate Cross and Alex Hartley were expensive with the new ball in the last game, and they can least afford this against Southern Brave. The side would like to see good efforts from them here. Ecclestone has done well bowling tight lines and needs to do this in company of Emma Lamb and Laura Jackson.

Anya Shrubsole couldn’t have asked for a better show from her side midway into the league games. They have won all their four games and come here after a strong show against London Spirit Women. The side would like to maintain the same momentum here and book their berth in the eliminator round with a win.
The side has a strong opening pair in Danielle Wyatt and Smriti Mandhana. The pair would look to provide a good start here. In the middle order Stafanie Taylor, Maia Boucher and Sophia Dunkley have done well and strengthen this batting. The side would like to see big hits down the order from Amanda Wellington and Anya Shrubsole.
Anya Shrubsole and Amanda Wellington have been in exceptional form with the ball and the side would like to see a good show from them with the new ball. Lauren Bell has also bowled tight spells and makes this attack formidable. The side would look for good bowling from Tara Norris, Taylor and Fi Morris who add variety to this attack.

The skies over Manchester would be cloudy on August 05 and there are expectations of rain interruptions. The wicket is generally a flat on here allowing batters to play their strokes without much hesitation. A score of 140 runs or more would be a good total on this surface.
Old Trafford has one of the best batting surfaces in England. The ball comes on to the bat easily and we have seen batters do well at this venue in the past. There isn’t much of assistance for the fast bowlers, but spinners have enjoyed bowling on this surface as there is turn on offer.
The wicket here has always been a flat one where batters have got lots of runs. We have seen big scores put up on the board in the recent games that have been played at this venue. The side that wins the toss in this game is most likely to choose batting.
The two sides have had contrasting forms leading up to this game. Manchester Originals Women are struggling with their batting form and the side would have to come up with an exceptional performance to win this game. Southern Brave on the other hand look unstoppable and have ticked all the boxes and this would make them outright favorites to win this game.
