It is the 17th game of the Indian Premier League 2020 where the defending champions Mumbai Indians would be up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both the sides have 4 points after four games. Mumbai Indians comes into this game after a massive win against the Kings XI Punjab while the Sunrises managed to defeat the Chennai Super Kings in a close contest and this will give the side lot of confidence.

Mumbai Indians have so far looked in great form with their bat and they would be looking to continue with it in the next game. As for the Sunrisers Hyderabad they are having a bad season with injuries and with Bhuvneshwar Kumar having to pull out of the last game due to an injury in his thigh and his participation in the next game hangs in balance. It will be interesting to see which of the sides win the next game and makes it claims to the top of the points table.

Mumbai Indians Preview

Rohit Sharma’s side is back rocking as the team does best after two poor performances already in the season. The 48-run victory against the Kings XI Punjab would have restored the confidence in the side after that heart break against the RCB. Sharma would be aware of the fact that the Sunrisers Hyderabad are in good form and his side will need to put up a special show to win this game.

Rohit Sharma has already made his statement in the tournament he will be looking to provide a good start along with Quinton de Kock who hasn’t had a great season so far. Suryakumar Yadav has done well and the side will be expecting a better strike rate from Ishan Kishan in this game. Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya would be confident after their fiery knocks in the last game. They along with Krunal Pandya make this batting line-up formidable.

Trent Boult and James Pattinson haven’t been consistent so far in the season and the side will be expecting a good start from them against the quality batting that Sunrisers have at the top.  Jasprit Bumrah has done well in the last few games after a poor start to the season and he will be expected to do well in the death overs. With both the spinners Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya looking in good form they have good balance in their batting.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Preview

David Warner’s side defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 7 runs in a closely contested game. This was the side’s second win in a row after a poor start to the season and these back to back wins would have added to the confidence in the camp. They would now be up against a very strong side and the side would have to put it best foot forward to win this game.

The opening pair of Warner and Jonny Bairstow looks formidable but they haven’t really played to their potential so far in the tournament as a pair and need to do well here. The middle order is looking formidable with Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson and Pryam Garg having scored runs this season. In Abhishekh Sharma the side has a handy lower middle order player as he has already shown in the game.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury is a big setback for the side and in his absence Khaleel Ahmed and T Natarajan will need to assume additional responsibility with the ball. Rashid Khan is in his zone at the moment and he will be expected to make like difficult for the Mumbai Indians’ batsmen. Siddharth Kaul, Abdul Samad and Abhishek Sharma will need to bowl well for the side to win this game.

Weather Conditions

The weather would be hot and humid during the afternoon and it would be tough conditions for the bowlers. The track has been a belter so far and has allowed the batsmen to play on the rise. Big scores have been made and chased here in the tournament. The side that bats first in this game would need a score in excess of 180 runs to feel comfortable defending it.

Venue Details

There can’t be a better venue for the batsmen in T20 cricket than Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Short boundaries and lightning fast outfield make it a paradise for the batsmen and nightmare for the bowlers. There is little assistance from the surface for the fast bowlers but spinners have done well here though the short boundaries do make it tough for them to bowl.

Toss: To Bat

Bowling conditions would be extremely tough for the side that bowls first in the afternoon. The pitch would be dry and there would be little assistance for the bowlers here. Bowling is expected get easier here in the second innings and the captain that wins the toss would have little hesitation in bowling first here.

Both the teams have shown equal kinds of form leading up to this game and coming into this one having won their previous games. The Sunrisers Hyderabad has struggled with their bowling and the injury to their lead fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has come in at the wrong time for the side. Mumbai Indians on the other hand have a batting line-up that is going well at the moment and bowling attack that will be riding high on confidence. This will put them ahead of the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the start of the next game.
