Both teams struggled with the bat in their recent matches but Madhya Pradesh seem to have found their rhythm as they made a comeback with a successful run chase against Baroda in the last match.

The two teams will lock horns at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane where kicked off their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 season with a win over Goa. It is also the same venue where Bengal bowled out MP for just 61 runs while defending 254 runs.

MP are now back to their winning ways after suffering a big loss against Bengal at this same venue. The bowlers did a fine job of restricting Bengal to a par total of 254 runs bowling first.

However, none of the batters including Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer could salvage the innings as MP collapsed and were bowled out for 61 runs in the chase.

Both Patidar and Iyer scored a fifty each at number 4 and 5 respectively in the very next game while chasing a 264-run target against Baroda. Opener Yash Dubey also got going and scored 72 runs at the top. 

This should boost their confidence coming into their last match of the season. Akshat Raghuvanshi is also a promising batter at number 6 and will be one to watch out for.

Arshad Khan, Kumar Kartikeya, and Kulwant Khejoriya are the key wicket-taking bowlers in this side. They helped Madhya Pradesh beat Punjab while defending a 177-run total.

Tamil Nadu should be backing themselves to beat Madhya Pradesh and jump a place up in the points table to number 2. This is their big chance to stake their claim on the quarter-final spot in VJT 2023.

They’ve been struggling with the bat but so has the opposition. At least Tamil Nadu has a strong bowling attack that can trouble the opposition’s top-order and put more pressure on the number 4 and 5 batters.

Warrier, T Natarajan, Baba Aparajith, R Sai Kishore, and Varun Chakravarthy are the big names in this bowling attack who can deliver match-winning performances.

The batting lineup also features some big names who have played international cricket including skipper Dinesh Karthik whose 93-run knock went in vain as they were bowled out for 175 runs against Punjab in their last outing.

Sai Sudharsan and N Jagadeesan at the top followed by Vijay Shankar at number 4 and Shahrukh Khan in the lower order at number 7 make for a solid batting lineup.

Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane will be the venue for this clash which will be the last league stage match for Madhya Pradesh. The venue has witnessed some high-scoring games but not many close encounters that went right down to the wire. A good 1st innings total and the job is half done. If the team batting first can post a 275+ total, their chances of winning the game are very high.
