Host Multan Sultans will be keen to extend their lead at the top of the points table when they face Karachi Kings in the 10th match of 2020 Pakistan Super League at Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Multan Captain Shan Masood will be pleased with this side’s clinical performance against Peshawar Zalmi. The side will need to maintain their discipline in order to maintain their winning streak in the competition.

On the other hand, Karachi Kings will be looking to make amends for their mistakes made in the previous game against Quetta Gladiators. Imad Wasim and co. will be looking to put on a strong show in this contest.

Multan Sultans Preview

The franchise is currently at the top of the league table with 4 points to their name. The bowlers put in a splendid performance to set up a comfortable win for Multan Sultans. Left-arm quick Sohail Tanvir was the star of the show for Multan Sultans and finished with figures of 4 for 13 in 3.3 overs. Besides Tanvir, Muhammad Irfan and Mohammad Ilyas bowled well and claimed two wickets each to restrict Peshawar Zalmi’s star-studded batting lineup to just 123 runs.

Chasing 124 runs for victory, James Vince and Moeen Ali perished for low scores to see Multan get off to a shaky start. Captain Shan Masood also failed to make an impression with the bat to see Multan reduced to 31 for 3 in 4.2 overs. Wicket-keeper Zeeshan Ashraf was dismissed by Wahab Riaz to see Multan placed in a precarious situation. Rilee Rossouw and Khushdil Shah put on a match-winning partnership of 77 runs to steer Multan to a comfortable victory.

There is no doubt that Rilee Rossouw was the star performer with the bat for Multan and finished the innings with the top-score of 49 not out off 42 balls with the help of seven fours and one six.  He was well supported by Khushdil Shah, who chipped in with unbeaten 43 runs off 29 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.

Karachi Kings Preview

Imad Wasim-led unit will be looking to bring their A-game to table in this contest. Kings suffered their first defeat of the competition at the hands of Quetta Gladiators. The side will make one change to their playing XI as Aamer Yamin might come in place of Arshad Iqbal, who has failed to make impression with the ball in the games played this season.

For this game, the side will be relying on the likes of Babar Azam, Cameron Delport and Alex Hales to do the bulk of the scoring. Opener Babar Azam is currently franchise’s leading run-scorer in the competition with 104 runs at an average of 52.00. In the previous fixture,  Azam failed to capitalize on his good start and perished after scoring 26 runs off 23 balls with the help of five boundaries.

Sharjeel Khan’s poor form continued in the competition as he departed for a single-digit score against Quetta Gladiators. Alex Hales has looked in good touch with the bat and will be eyeing a big score in this game. Against Gladiators, Hales scored 29 runs off 27 balls with the help of one four and one six.

Captain Imad Wasim, Cameron Delport and Iftikhar Ahmed contributed with crucial scores for Kings so far this season. In the previous game, Cameron Delport scored 22 runs off 12 balls with the help of two fours and one six, whereas Iftikhar Ahmed chipped in with 25 runs off 18 balls with the help of two fours and one six.

On the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of Mohammad Amir, Chris Jordan and Umaid Asif to provide crucial wickets with the new ball.  Chris Jordan and Imad Wasim bowled well in the game against Quetta Gladiators and claimed one wicket each.

Karachi Kings Predicted Playing XI:

Imad Wasim (c), Iftikhar Ahmed, Aamer Yamin, Mohammad Amir, Chadwick Walton (wk), Chris Jordan, Alex Hales, Babar Azam, Umaid Asif, Sharjeel Khan, Cameron Delport.
