Multan Sultans would be looking to gain further momentum as they go up against the Lahore Qalandars in the 3rd game of the Pakistan Super League 2022. The Multan Sultans come here with a big win against the strong Karachi Kings side. The Qalandars would like to make a perfect start to the season under a new captain.  

Lahore Qalandars had lost both the games against the Multan Sultans last season and they would be aiming for a turnaround this year. The side has a good batting line-up but their bowling attack is looking slightly weaker. It is still early days in the tournament and we expect to see a good contest here.

The defending champions have made a confident start to the tournament. Mohammad Rizwan would be happy with the performance of his bowlers in the last game against the Karachi Kings which they won by 7 wickets. Rizwan would like to continue the same way and register the second consecutive win for the season. 

Rizwan and Shan Masood looked in good form in the last game opening the batting and they would aim at offering an electrifying start. Sohaib Maqsood also did well at No. 3 and solidifies the batting in the middle order with Tim David and Rilee Rossouw. With Khushdil Shah and David Willey to follow the side has good depth in its batting. 

Imran Khan and David Willey bowled well with the new ball against Karachi and the same would be expected from them here. Shahnawaz Dhani and Imran Tahir made good use of the conditions and the side would want them to come up with similar efforts in this game. They have good depth in their bowling with David, Khushdil Shah, and Ihsanullah in the side.

Shaheen Afridi would be in command of the side for this season and he would like his players to make a positive start. They are up against a confident outfit and Afridi would aim to see a strong show from his players. His batsmen have to play a key role as the Multan Sultan bowlers would come hard at them.  

Fakhar Zaman had shown good form last year and he would need to set up a good opening wicket stand with Sohail Akthar. In the middle order, they would need runs from Mohammad Hafeez and Ben Dunk. In David Weise, Zeeshan Ashraf, and Abdullah Shafique they have good hitters of the ball and they shall aim to accelerate the scoring. 

Shaheen Afridi will have to strike with the new ball and expect good support from Mohammad Hafeez. Rashid Khan will have to play a key role here and the side would have high expectations from him. Haris Rauf, Weise, and Ahmed Daniyal have to play the supporting role well in this game.

It will be clear skies over Karachi on January 29, and it would be a warm and comfortable afternoon. The wicket played slow in the last game, a typical Karachi track where batsmen found it difficult to time the ball. The same is expected to be the case here and the side batting first in the game would be happy to reach 170 runs.

National Stadium Karachi has one of the best batting surfaces in the world, but we have seen slowness on the surface. It is a graveyard for the fast bowlers in this format of the game as the wicket doesn’t assist them. Spinners get good rewards from the surface as the ball can occasionally stop on the batsmen.
