Bet NowLeague Leaders Multan Sultans will be looking to extend their lead at the top when they take on Peshawar Zalmi in the 27th match of 2020 Pakistan Super League at National Stadium on Friday.
With five wins out of eight matches played, Multan Sultans will be keen to seal their playoff spot in the tournament. Skipper Shan Masood and co. will be hoping that the side can maintain their standards with bat and ball in this contest.
On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi will be keen to bring their A-game to the table in a bid to secure their place in the knockout stages. Skipper Wahab Riaz will feel that bowlers will need to make improvements in order for Peshawar to register their fifth win of the competition.
Multan Sultans will feel frustrated after their previous game against Quetta Gladiators was abandoned due to heavy rains. Despite game being called-off, Multan Sultans are still lying at the top of the league table with 11 points to their name.
For this clash, Sultans will be depending on Captain Shan Masood to lead from the front. Left-hander has accumulated 183 runs at an average of 30.50 with one half-century to his name. England T20 specialist James Vince put in a spectacular performance in the game played against Islamabad United. He smashed a quick-fire half-century to see Islamabad register a comfortable win. Rilee Rossouw, Moeen Ali and Khushdil Shah have put their hand and won matches for Multan in this year’s competition.
The experience of spin duo of Shahid Afridi and Imran Tahir has worked wonders for Multan in the middle stages of the innings. Former South African spinner Imran Tahir is currently leading wicket-taker with 10 scalps to his name. Bringing in Junaid Khan in place of Muhammad Irfan proved to be a good decision for the franchise. Left-arm quick has the ability to take wickets with the new and old ball.

2017 PSL Champions will be looking to bring their A-game to the table in this final round-robin match in a bid to seal their place in the playoffs of the competition. In the previous fixture, the top-order trio of Kamran Akmal, Liam Livingstone and Tom Banton perished for low scores to see Peshawar Zalmi reeling at 24 for 3 after 3.2 overs.
Experienced Shoaib Malik showed once again that on a given day, he can match the likes of Kamran Akmal and Tom Banton as he notched up his third half-century of this year’s competition. He stitched a 116-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Haider Ali to power his side to a formidable score in their allotted 20 overs. He played well and finished the innings with a score of 62 runs off 43 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes.
Rookie batsman Haider Ali has been a surprise package for Peshawar Zalmi in the fifth edition of PSL. Surprisingly, 19-year old was the standout player with the bat for Peshawar Zalmi and notched up his maiden PSL fifty against Lahore Qalandars. He smashed 69 runs off 43 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes.
The bowling though, apart from Wahab Riaz, remains a worry for Peshawar Zalmi. The new-ball pair of Hasan Ali and Rahat Ali leaked a lot of the runs in the initial Powerplay overs and failed to create enough pressure on Lahore Qalandars batting lineup. With flat batting conditions expected at Karachi, the bowlers will need to come with better plans to outfox Multan’s star-studded batting lineup.
