With both teams playing 4 games each, and both stuck in the middle of the points table, both teams will want to win this game so they can create a bit of distance between them and the rest of the pack. This game has all the ingredients to be a lip smacking game, given both teams are similarly placed and powered.

Northern Knights has played four games in the tournament and with 2 wins and 2 losses, they will feel a bit of an urge to get a lot more consistent. With quite a dominating win in the last game, they will want to start a winning streak.

Otago Volts on the other hand, have played one of the best games played in Super Smash 2022. As entertaining as it was, Otago Volt will feel they missed out on a win, given they had to defend 17 runs in the last over, with the opposition 8 wickets down.

Northern Knights Preview

Maintaining a pattern of a loss followed by a win, for their last 4 games. As delighted as they would be being 2nd on the points table they will not be happy with how inconsistent they have been. They have a chance to put on a decent run and get clear at the points table.

Bowling first, the Northern Knights bowling unit ran riot against Wellington. Picking up 3 wickets in the powerplay brought the batting team on their knees. Picking up crucial wickets in the middle overs ensured, the opposition could not propel their score further than 136. Tim Pringle was the star, picking up 3 for 23 in his 4 overs.

In spite of losing an early wicket, Northern Knights breezed past the target as everyone expected. Winning the match by 6 wickets and in 18.4 overs, really displayed their potential of how good a side they are. Henry Cooper ensured that there was no chance for the opposition to make a comeback, as he scored 52 off 45 balls.

The bowling department were magnificent until the final over of the match. With 17 to defend in the final over, they could not restrict the opposition as they scored 16 to end the game in a draw. Jacob Duffy managed to pick up 2 wickets giving away just 27 runs.

In the last 16 T20 matches played here, the team batting second has won 8 times.

Toss: To Bowl

The team that wins the toss will look to bowl first. Given the history of the ground and also keeping the weather conditions in mind, the team will look to bowl first. Given the pitch is a true batting wicket through and through, bowling first will be a safe bet.

Both teams find themselves in really good form coming into this game. Them being stuck in the middle of the points table ensures that this will not be a one sided game. Northern Knights have a chance to potentially go to the top of the table with a win. On the other hand, Otago Volts will look to stay up with the pace of the top 2.

We predict that the Northern Knights will beat Otago Volts.
