Resurgent North Mumbai Panthers will take on in-form SoBo SuperSonics in the final of the Mumbai Premier League (MPL) 2019 in Mumbai on Sunday. 

North Mumbai Panthers managed to beat ARCS Andheri to qualify for the finals of the competition. Captain Prithvi Shaw will be hoping that the side can bring their A-game to the table in order to clinch their maiden crown.

North Mumbai Panthers managed to eke out a close win over ARCS Andheri in the first semifinal game, courtesy sublime batting performances from Captain Prithvi Shaw and wicket-keeper batsman Swapnil Salvi.

Captain Prithvi Shaw led from the front with the bat and smashed 76 off 48 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. He delivered a match-winning performance and added over 100 runs with Swapnil Salvi to see North Mumbai Panthers register a two-wicket win over ARCS Andheri. The side will be hoping that can continue his rich vein of form with the bat against SoBo SuperSonics in the finals of the competition.

In the batting department, the team management will be hoping to see the return of form of opening batsman Vikrant Audi, who had a rare failure in an all-important encounter against ARCS Andheri but still is the leading run-scorer for the side so far this season.

Middle-order batsman Swapnil Salvi made a valuable contribution with the bat in the previous game played against ARCS Andheri and the team management will be hoping for a similar kind of performances in the grand finale. Salvi scored 62 off 38 balls with the help of two fours and five sixes.

In the bowling department, the side will be relying on the likes of Rahul Sawant, Pravin Tambe, and Arif Attarwala to pick up crucial wickets in this final. Medium-pacer Prathamesh Dake bowled well and picked up three wickets in the semifinals played against ARCS Andheri.

On the other hand, SoBo SuperSonics registered an impressive 26-run win against Aakash Tigers MWS in the  2nd semifinal game, courtesy stunning century from SoBo SuperSonics Skipper Jay Gokul Bista.

In the batting department, the team management will be depending on the likes of Jay Gokul Bista, Hersh Tank and Parag Khanapurkar to do the bulk of the scoring in this final. Skipper Jay Gokul Bista led from the front with the bat for SuperSonics in the previous game and smashed a blistering 110 runs off 60 balls with the help of nine fours and five sixes. He added a mammoth 196-run partnership with Hersh Tank to see the side post 217 for 4 in 20 overs. 

Jay Gokul Bista was well supported by Hersh Tank, who chipped in with 93 off 51 balls with the help of seven fours and five sixes. The opening pair will be looking to continue their good form with the bat in this grand finale.

Besides Jay Gokul Bista and Hersh Tank, Middle-order batsman Parag Khanapurkar has done an excellent job for the side so far this season. He has chipped with excellent performances for the side and is averaging well over 40 in this year’s competition. Wicket-keeper Yogesh Takawale, Japjeet Randhawa and Khizer Dafedar have also chipped in with crucial scores with the bat for SuperSonics this season.
