Bet NowWe are entering an interesting phase in the T20 Blast 2020 for the Central Group where the points table has already started taking shape and the next game would see the table toppers Northamptonshire Steelbacks take on Glamorgan. The Steelbacks have been in great form so far in the season and haven’t lost a game yet. Glamorgan comes here after a big loss against Somerset in their previous game.
The Northamptonshire Steelbacks have looked good both with the bat and the ball and have their key players in good form at the moment. They have won the last four out of five games against Glamorgan. As for Glamorgan they struggled with the bat in the last two games and will need to make amends if they are to defeat the Steelbacks who are looking in incredible form at the moment.
It has been a perfect season so far for Joshua Cobb’s side as they have won all their three games so far. It was a good win against a much stronger Birmingham Bears in the last game. They put up a decent score on the board and bowled brilliantly to register a 38-run win. Cobb would want his side to carry on with the same momentum and win the next game and book a berth form themselves in the quarterfinals.
Their opening combination of Paul Stirling and Richard Levi has played well so far and the side would be expecting a similar show from them in the next game. Ricardo Vasconcelos, Cobb and Alex Wakely make the middle order look formidable. With Saif Zaib and Gareth Berg to follow the side looks very strong with the bat.
Their bowlers bowled brilliantly in the last game with Cobb and Ben Sanderson starting with very tight spells. Sanderson’s consistent form adds to the side’s confidence. Nathan Buck and Brandon Glover were also good with the ball in the last game. Graeme White and Berg add to the bowling options for the skipper.

It was a poor show with the bat and the ball that saw Chris Cooke’s side suffer the second consecutive loss of the season losing by 8 wickets against Somerset. The side will need to recover from this loss as they play against a very strong side. One more loss would push them down in the points table and can end their hopes of making it to the quarterfinals.
Cooke has been the sole performer with the bat in the last two games. They need a good start from Billy Root and Daniel Douthwaite whose form is a concern. Andy Balbirnie hasn’t lived up to his reputation either and needs to do well here. Kiran Carlson, Callum Taylor and Graham Wagg will need to play better hands down the order as their top order is struggling at the moment.
Prem Sisodiya and Andrew Salter have done well with the new ball but the side would want them to deliver early breakthroughs in this game against a very strong opponent. Timm van der Gugten, Marchant de Lange and Douthwaite need to check their line and length as the side doesn’t have much depth in its bowling. Steelbacks’ batsmen are in great form and the side will need to come up with better efforts with the ball.

There is rains forecast for Birmingham on September 3 and the weather is expected to remain overcast during the game. It will be tough conditions for the batsmen here as the ball is expected to swing and seam. The side batting first needs to be cautious in its approach and a score of 150 or more would be a good one on this surface.
Edgbaston, Birmingham has been a venue where fast bowlers have always got rewards from the conditions. It is one of the trickiest surfaces to bat on in T20 games in England and batsmen need to be smart to pile up big scores here. Spinners have struggled at this venue as there isn’t must assistance from the surface for them.
The weather conditions are likely to favor the bowlers early on in the game at Edgbaston, Birmingham. This venue has seen more sides winning games after chasing the score in the recent years. Batting first is always a challenge here and hence we expect the side winning the toss to opt for bowling.
This will be a contest between two teams who are coming into this game with contrasting forms. Glamorgan have lost their last two games and the side has been let down by the poor performance of its batsmen. They will need to improve on that front as they face a big challenge against the Northamptonshire Steelbacks. The Steelbacks have won the last three games and have a side that is playing like a well-gelled unit and this will make them favorites in the next game.
