The battle for supremacy between Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Bears
Birmingham Bears to win
Tournament: VITALITY T20 BLAST 2020 | Format: T20 | Venue: County Ground, Northampton, England | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowThe competition in the Central Group of the T20 Blast 2020 seems to be already heating up, and in the next game we would see the Northamptonshire Steelbacks take on the Birmingham Bears. Both the sides are coming into this game with a win in their previous games and look in good form. The two sides are currently placed 1 and 2 on the points table and this game is expected to be a battle for supremacy.
The two sides match up well leading into this game but Birmingham Bears have more experience in their side especially with the ball which gives them some advantage going into this contest. The Steelbacks are no pushover which they have showed in their two wins for far. The young side is playing well and we should have a good content on our hands in the next game.
Joshua Cobb’s side has done well so far in the tournament. They registered their second consecutive victory of the season in the last game against Somerset winning it by 9 runs. They dominated the game right from the start and it was good to see their batsmen shine. They will be up against a team that has looked in equally good form and needs to play well to win this.
Opening the batting Paul Stirling and Richard Levi will look to provide a good start. The duo has so far looked good. The middle order comprising of Cobb and Adam Rossington played well in the last game and their top order is looking good for the moment. In Alex Wakely and Saif Zaib they have good finishers down the order and the side will want to score quick runs in the game.
Their bowlers were wayward towards the end of the innings in the last game and shall look to improve in this contest. Cob and Ben Sanderson will look for early breakthroughs. There is some inexperience in this attack but the side will expect to see Nathan Buck, Brandon Glover and Gareth Berg do well in this game.

Will Rhodes’ side registered its first victory of the season in their last game against Glamorgan. The fact that the 6-wicket win came against a very strong side would have given them lot of confidence. Their bowling attack looks good for the moment and batsmen too are playing a complimentary role.
Ian Bell played well in the last game and the veteran would look to provide a good start with Ed Pollock who missed out in the last game. They have an in-form middle order with Sam Hain, Adam Hose and Rhodes striking the ball well. Michael Burgess. Tim Bresnan and Olly Stone add depth to this batting line-up.
Tim Bresnan and Stone bowled brilliantly in the last game picking important wickets and the side would hope to see a similar start from them in this game as well. Jacob Lintott was extremely tight with his bowling which is good news for the side. With the experience Jeetan Patel and Henry Brookes the side has a very strong bowling attack going into this game.

The weather conditions would be good on September 1. Though the conditions would be overcast we don’t expect to see rains here. Batting conditions would be slightly challenging and batsmen would need to guard against seam and swing. A score of 150 or more should be a fighting total on this surface.
A small park, County Ground, Northampton is a good hunting ground for the batsmen who have always played the ball in the air without much fear. Bowlers who can swing the ball have done well at this venue. Spinners have to be smart to grab wickets here as there is very little margin for error on this track.
Most teams have preferred to bowl first this season as the wickets haven’t been the best for batting and knowing the target score allows teams to make their plans and execute them. Going into this game we believe the side winning the toss would like to bowl first and apply pressure on the opposition.
This game would be a hard fought battle as both the side are coming into this contest having won their previous games. The Northamptonshire Steelbacks have several young and exciting players in their ranks and they have done well in the two games the side has won but they lack depth in their bowling. Birmingham Bears on the other hand are a much settled side and have good experience in their bowling. It will be a close game but at the moment Birmingham Bears are nose ahead of the Steelbacks.
