The Abu Dhabi T10 League, 2021-22 has started with exciting action on the first day, and now we would have a big contest as the defending champions Northern Warriors take on Team Abu Dhabi. The Warriors suffered a defeat in their first game going down against Delhi Bulls while Team Abu Dhabi defeated Bangla Tigers in their first game. 

Team Abu Dhabi would be confident with the form of their batsmen who put up a terrific show in the first game. Their key players have looked in good form and the side would like to ride the momentum here. It will be interesting to see if the Northern Warriors can get over their poor show here and earn their first points of the season.

Rovman Powell would be upset to have lost the last game. Poor bowling and inability to finish their innings the way they would have liked saw the side going down against the Delhi Bulls by 6 wickets. They must put this loss behind and aim at winning this game. They would be up against a confident side and Powell would want his side to put up their best show. 

Moeen Ali played well in the last game and he would look to provide a good start with Kennar Lewis who missed out in the last game. Samit Patel and Powell played well with Patel justifying his promotion to No. 3. Ross Whitely would look to recover from the disastrous show in the last game and aim at adding quick runs with Chris Jordan and Umair Ali down the order. 

Joshua Little and Imran Tahir would have a very important role to play after their poor show with the ball in the last game. Abhimanyu Mithun played his part well and he would look to keep the scoring under check with Umair Ali. Chris Jordan will have to come up with a better show after leaking runs in the last game. The presence of Moeen Ali adds to the bowling options for the side.

Liam Livingstone couldn’t have asked for a better start to the tournament as all their chips fell into place and the side won by 40 runs against the Bangla Tigers. It was a terrific show with the bat and the ball for the side and they would aim to continue with it in this game and strengthen their position on the points table. 

Paul Stirling played an electrifying knock in the last game and he’d look to offer a good start with Phillip Salt who missed out. Chris Gayle looked at his best and he strengthens the middle order with Liam Livingstone and Jamie Overton. In Colin Ingram and Danny Briggs they have players who can strike the ball hard and score runs.  

Marchant de Lange picked 5 wickets but he would have to work on his economy rate and look to grab early wickets with Sheldon Cottrell who failed to execute the plans. Jamie Overton and Naven-ul- Haq were good with the ball and the side would like to see them repeat the same show. In Livingstone and Stirling, they have good bowling options.

The skies would be clear over Abu Dhabi on November 20 and the wicket is expected to be flat as we had seen on the first day of the tournament. The ball would come onto the bat nicely and allow batsmen to play their strokes easily. The side batting first in the game shall look to put 130 runs on the broad.

Venue Details

Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi is a large ground but it has a flat surface and a fast outfield. This makes it a good ground for the batsmen who have scored lots of runs here in the past. There is little on this surface for the fast bowlers but spinners get good assistance from the track and have enjoyed a good record here in the past.

Toss: To Bowl

Winning the toss here is an advantage and this format of the game is tilted towards the sides that chase the score. Most teams in the past have preferred to bowl and have a victory target in mind. We expect this trend to continue and the side winning the toss here is expected to bowl first.
