It has been a poor start to the tournament for Kane Williamson’s side. Their batsmen failed to convert starts in their last game against Pakistan, as the side went down by 6 wickets. The Kiwis have a good record against Bangladesh at home, and Williamson would like his side to take inspiration from those performances and win this game.  

Devon Conway and Finn Allen got starts in the last game, and they must convert them to big scores here. The middle order struggled against Pakistan, and the side shall need good performances from Williamson, Glenn Phillips, and Mark Chapman in this game. For the side to win this game, James Neesham and Michael Bracewell must do well in the finishers’ roles.  

Their bowlers did an excellent job in the last game, and the team would like early wickets in this game from the experienced pair of Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Blair Tickner leaked runs, and he must bowl better spells in this game. Bangladesh Preview

Nurul Hasan’s side batted and bowled poorly in their first game against Pakistan to go down by 21 runs. It was a sloppy performance from the team where they failed to take advantage of the situation and suffered the loss. It will be a tough challenge against New Zealand in these conditions, and the Bangladeshi skipper shall like to see a better show from his players.   

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Sabbir Rahman must set up a big opening wicket stand against the hostile bowling attack they would face from New Zealand. Liton Das and Afif Hossain scored runs in the last game, making them confident. The side would also need contributions down the order from Mosaddek Hossain, Nurul Hasan, and  Yasir Ali, as all three can strike the ball hard.

The skies would be clear over Christchurch on October 9, and it would be excellent conditions for a game of T20 cricket. We have seen the ball hitting the bat hard and allowing batsmen to play their strokes freely. A score of 180 runs would be on the mind of the side batting first in this game.

Venue Details

Hagley Oval, Christchurch, is one of the flattest tracks with a fast outfield in New Zealand. It is a paradise for the batsmen, and we have seen plenty of runs being scored here. Fast bowlers have done well in the past as the ball moves in the air but spinners have struggled as there is hardly any assistance for them on this surface.

Toss: To Bat

The track looked a good one to bat on in the last two matches played here. There wasn’t much in there for the bowlers. This is likely to play in the minds of both captains as they go for the toss in the next game. We believe the side winning the toss would opt to bat first.
