New Zealand will look to continue with their excellent form as they take on Bangladesh in the 5th game of the New Zealand T20I Tri-Series 2022. New Zealand is coming here with back-to-back wins and registered a comprehensive win against Pakistan in their last outing. Bangladesh has struggled, and the side suffered a big loss against the Kiwis earlier they shall look for a better show here.

Bangladesh's record in New Zealand doesn't inspire confidence. They have never defeated the hosts in New Zealand, and this would be on their minds. Their batsmen have performed poorly, which is a worrying sign. New Zealand has gained momentum after losing in their first game of the tournament. It remains to be seen if Bangladesh can break free from their poor form.

New Zealand Preview

Kane Williamson shall be delighted with his side's performance in the last game. It was an excellent show from their batsmen as they crossed the finishing line with 9 wickets in hand against Pakistan. They had defeated Bangladesh earlier, and Williamson shall look to take confidence from that win and do well in this game.

Finn Allen and Devon Conway battled brilliantly in the last game to set up a 117-run stand, and a similar start shall put the side in a comfortable position. Kane Williamson is an experienced batsman and will look to steer the middle order along with Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman. The side has depth in its batting, with James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, and Mitchell Santner to follow.

Their bowlers did an excellent job against Pakistan in the last game, and the side would like a good spell with the new ball from Tim Southee and Santner. Michael Bracewell was brilliant in the last game, and he adds strength to the bowling. They have a well-balanced attack and shall expect good performances from Ish Sodhi and Blair Tickner.

New Zealand Predicted Playing XI:

Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Blair Tickner

Bangladesh Preview

Shakib Al Hasan would be a worried man ahead of the T20 World Cup. His side has lost both the games it has played in this tournament. It was a demoralizing loss for the side against New Zealand in the last match, where they failed to perform with the bat and the ball. Shakib would like a more determined effort from his players and gain form ahead of the big tournament.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has failed in both games, and the side would expect a good show from him and his opening partner Najmul Hossain Shanto. The middle order looked rusty, which was a problem for the team. They would like a good performance from Liton Das, Afif Hossain, and Mosaddek Hossain. Shakib needs to do the big-hitting toward the end of the innings, along with Yasir Ali and Nurul Hasan.

In the last game, the bowling attack failed to put the Kiwis under pressure. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam must bowl better spells with the new ball to put the hosts under pressure. Hasan Mahmud, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Shakib must bowl good spells in the middle overs for the side to be in a comfortable position.

Bangladesh Predicted Playing XI:

Shakib Al Hasan (c), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan (wk), Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam

Weather Conditions

The skies would be overcast over Christchurch on October 12. Batting conditions would be excellent though the weather would assist the fast bowlers. The ball has come onto the bat nicely in the earlier games. To feel safe on this surface, the side batting first shall need 160 runs on the board.

Venue Details

Hagley Oval, Christchurch, is a flat surface and the venue has a fast outfield. We have seen big scores in the past as batsmen can play their strokes easily at this venue. Fast bowlers do get the ball to move, troubling batsmen occasionally. There is little margin of error for spinners as the small size of the ground makes it difficult for them.

Toss: To Bowl

Four games have been played in this tournament, and only once has the side won the game batting first. The wicket has been flat and good for batting, allowing the sides to chase big scores at this venue. We believe the side winning the toss would opt to bowl first in this game.

Bangladesh has been outplayed in both games. Their batsmen look in poor form, which is worrying for the side. The team would need big scores from its top order to put a challenge for the hosts. New Zealand has momentum on their side, and their batsmen look in excellent shape. It would make them favorites to win this game.
