As the bowling unit couldn’t manage to restrict visitors to put a big total on a board, New Zealand Women got a target of 271 in 50 overs. New Zealand Women lost 3 wickets on 55 runs in the earlier part of the game. But Amelia Kerr along with Maddy Green stood for the side and put up a 138 runs partnership for the 4th wicket. Amelia Kerr scored a brilliant century and ended up on a winning side with a not-out 119 runs from 135 runs. Maddy Green also helped her by scoring 52 runs from 61 balls.
Although New Zealand Women’s bowling unit was not on the mark, batters came to the rescue and managed to secure an important win for the team which clearly shows how balanced the side they have. Now, while moving on for the 3rd ODI, New Zealand Women would like to maintain this form and will try to win a game and series also on the same day.

Despite a brilliant batting performance and putting a decent total on the board, India Women couldn't manage to restrict the opponent and lost the 2nd ODI also. They are still searching for a win on this tour and will try to save the series when they play against hosts in the 3rd ODI at Queenstown. While batting first in the absence of Smriti Mandhana, India’s new opening pair provided a good start and scored 61 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana’s replacement Sabbhineni Meghana scored 49 runs in 50 balls while opening the innings. Once again Indian captain Mithali Raj showed her skills in the middle order to score a not-out 66 runs in the 81 balls.
Indian wicket-keeper; Richa Ghosh played an attacking inning of 65 runs in 64 runs in the lower order which helped her team to put 270 runs on the board. Despite a good batting performance and brilliant opening bowling spells of Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gaikwad, India-W couldn’t manage to restrict hosts and got defeated in the second game also. Deepti Sharma’s brilliant spell of 4 wickets for 52 runs went in vain.
After missing the first 2 games, Indian opener Smriti Mandhan will likely play the 3rd match which will be important from the team’s point of view as India-W would try to save the series. With the addition of her to the team; the Indian side will try to put pressure on New Zealand Women’s bowling attack.
