Oval Invincibles to win
Tournament: The Hundred Men | Format: 100-BALL CRICKET | Venue: Kennington Oval, London, England | Toss: To Bowl
Bet NowOval Invincibles would be playing the Manchester Originals at their home ground Kennington Oval, London in the 1st game of The Hundred. It will be a historic day for cricket marking the beginning of a new format of the game. With interesting rules and powerful hitters of the ball in both the camps will have to approach the game different when compared to the T20 format.
It will be the first ever game in this format and shall require new strategies for both the teams. There are quality players on both the sides and some who have established their reputation in the T20 format of the game. There would be pressure on both the teams, and it would be interesting to see how the sides approach this game.
The Invincibles haven’t announced a skipper for the season yet but the toss would most likely be between Jason Roy and Colin Ingram. It is a new format of the game and hence the side would have to work on new strategies. They are up against some of the best players in the shorter format of the game and hence the side would need to put up a good show here.
Openers Jason Roy and Will Jacks would need to set up a good opening stand in the game. Both these players have their range of strokes. Sam Billings will have to do his job well at No. 3 and stitch partnerships with Colin Ingram and Laurie Evans. They have good hitters to follow in Sunil Narine, Tom Curran and Sam Curran and explosive innings would be expected from them.
They have a strong bowling attack going into this game with Saqib Mahmood and Sam Curran expected to open the bowling for the side in this game. Sandeep Lamichhane would look to trouble the Originals with his variations in this game. In Tom Curran and Reece Topley they have a strong bowling attack for this game.

The Originals too haven’t announced their skipper for the game and here Colin Ackermann or Jos Buttler would be the top contenders for the role. The side has some of the best hitters of the ball, but it is the bowling attack that looks slightly weak at the moment. They would want to make a positive start to the tournament with a win here.
They have a good opening pair in Jos Buttler and Phillip Salt and the side would expect an electrifying start from the pair. In the middle order they have the experience of Joe Clarke, Colin Munro, Colin Ackermann and Jamie Overton. Carlos Brathwaite is a good hitter of the ball, and the side would have high expectations from him here.
Lockie Ferguson will need to make good use of his pace and get early breakthroughs for the side along with Matthew Parkinson. Fred Klaassen and Ollie Robinson showed promise during the T20 Blast and there would be expectations from them. In Munro, Overton and Brathwaite they have depth in the bowling.

The skies over London would be mostly clear on July 22 and we should make a good start to this new format of the game. The track here has been a good one to bat on and we expect it to be a high scoring game. Bowlers have little margin for error in this game. The side that bats first would target a score near the 180-run mark.
Kennington Oval, London has a flat track and batsmen have always enjoyed batting on this surface. There is something on the surface for the bowlers early on, but it also allows batsmen to play their strokes freely. Spinners have done well in this surface as the odd ball can grip and turn.
It is the first game in this format of the game and there would be nerves in both the camps. Setting a winning score would be a difficult proposition for the side and they would prefer chasing. The side that wins the toss here is expected to have little hesitation in opting to bowl first.
Manchester Originals do have a very strong batting line-up but their weakness is in the bowling department. None of the bowlers have done well in recent games and this would be worrying for the side. Oval Invincibles on the other hand have a well-balanced side. They have depth in both the departments and playing at home with the crowds behind them, the side would start favorites in this game.
